Description: This cafe is in the provincial capital of Dong Ha, Quang Tri Province, Vietnam. Tam, the owner, speaks english is very helpful in organizing transportation, lodging, and/or tours for travelers. This area of Vietnam is not very touristy, but this place provides a welcome alternative from eating at roadside noodle shops. Founded with a local NGO micro-loan, it used to support local deaf teenagers through employment and hospitality training.

We headed straight to Tams restaurant after reading the review in Lonely Planet. We ate lunch here and continued to eat meals here everyday, although I would be nice to have a little more selection on the menu. Mr Tam then introduced himself and spoke extensively about the tour options he had to offer. Wow I was hooked straight away, Mr Tam has so much knowledge about the past history of this area. We booked a North - South tour the next day with Mr. Hoa and Mr. Phu, costing $26 each, on motobikes. What a great day! Mr. Hoa was excellent! We were able to take our time at each site and asked numerous questions in which we could answer in great detail. At the end of the tour we headed to the beach, drank a few beers, ate a great seafood lunch and were dropped back at our hotel.

I highly recommend booking a tour through Tams Cafe!

I visited Dong Ha in May 2014, and spent two days discovering the DMZ and Quang Tri Province with Mr. Hoa by motorbike. He was a very fun, helpful and smart guide. Well recommended!

We happened to bump into Mr Tam at an ATM where we were looking for directions to drive through to the Vinh Moc tunnels.
Mr Tam asked if he could help us in perfect English. I am usually wary of people offerong help but he pointed to his entry on the opened page of our Lonely Planet and said 'that's me'. He offered help and didnt push, said it was up to us.
We went to his cafe where we had two awesome sandwiches and he was our guide for the tunnels. He was great.
Went back here for breakfast as there isnt much choice in Dong Ha and again it was very good.
+ its a charity organisation
+ good service
+ good prices
+ Mr Tam will help you with anything.

- do not go for the special dessert, it was just weird.

The food was great and the coffee large. Tam (the owner) was more than helpful with recommending a hotel and things to do around town. We are going back from breakfast tomorrow.
