“Warm and inviting”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 27, 2012

This great litlte hotel in the centre of town is stylish and comfortable. Standard rooms are small but come with all the mod cons including in-room safe, clean white fluffy towels, sheets and doonas, aircon glass sink and rain shower. Downstairs there is an excellent restaurant, and internet computers for guest use. The colour scheme is warm oranges with solid wood furniture.

In a fairly drab town this hotel appears like an apparition. I overheard two new arrivals exclaim that this hotel "looks warm and inviting" and that just about sums it up.

The downside (there is always a downside) is the staff at times are useless. It can be hard to find someone who speaks even basic English (which is surprising considering most of their guests are western tourists - imagine if you had a job where you could barely communicate with your customers). Also, I had to ask four times for my final bill, which they seemed incapable of producing for some reason. And the twin room's bathroom would be awkard for two people as the toilet and shower are both very small, so it may be better to get a bigger room if you aren't "bedmates".

But even with a couple of niggles it's still by far the best place to stay in town - be sure to book ahead.

Attractive well located property and friendly and helpful staff. However, housekeeping is an issue as the room smelt very musty on arrival and the floor was obviously not clean. Somewhat of a joke was the sign in the corridor "please remove your shoes". This does presuppose that the floors will be clean. I also experienced poor cleanliness in the Vang Vieng branch as well.

Good wifi and restaurant.

Dear Peter,

Thank you for staying at both our properties and i am sorry that our standards didn't give you full satisfaction.
We do our best to provide the best service to our guests and it is never pleasant to read that some of our guests left the hotel not fully satisfied.
I will look into improving the floor cleaning procedures with the head of housekeeping.

Best regards,

Thavone,
General Manager

We checked in really late (1.30am) after our bus arrived in Thakhek... we prewarned Inthira by phone and email of this and our key was waiting for us when we woke the little night man sleeping in amongst the mopeds. Thankfully we cranked the AC and settled in for the night. The following morning we discovered we'd left our mobile phone on the bus and the Manager rang both the VIP office and the bus driver to see if returned - sadly not but appreciated him making the call. Food in restaurant in Inthira was good, kitchen tidy and all in all no complaints with the food. The fans and AC were great. Linen good quality. As previously mentioned the WC and showers in each corner a little weird but great shower pressure. Room 12 was extremely noisy from street noise due to poor windows/doors but we were prepared to put up with it for the 3 nights. Wifi was reliable. Very, very little english spoken by staff and when we asked in several different ways about claiming the "cocktail on arrival" the following lunch time as part of our booking .. the staff stared blankly, 2 of them talked amongst themselves and on 2 occassions and both times walked away. We simply ordered a Lao beer and suggest not offering cocktails if can't be redeemed - we'd noted that this was mentioned in a previous review. Disappointed by a particular staff member that worked for Green Discovery but was redeemed by another really helpful staff member the following day who also worked for Green Discovery who spoke great english and you could tell he comprehended what was being asked for and conversed. He was the one not wearing glasses. We were left a little to our own devices, our room wasn't serviced, towels replaced, toilet paper provided - although the complementry water given one day - we did ask for a toilet roll once ran out and this did not change our overall experience. All in all Inthira seemed to be the nicest hotel in Thakhek

Room Tip: Request a room not on street front to avoid traffic noise. Also if comng to Thakhek for Caves - go...

Nicest hotel in town in my opinion. We ended up staying longer than our initial booking. Clean room, friendly staff, great little restaurant downstairs. Nice breakfast included. Comfortable bed. The shower and toilet are in little corners of the room and although there are doors i do agree with past reviews that it is not a place that you would want to share with someone you weren't comfortable with as there really isn't that much privacy. Also our air-conditioner wasn't very cold but apart from that nice little hotel and i would stay here again if i return

I loved my stay at Inthira. Everything about the place made me happy. And the most astounding thing is Mr Thavone the GM doing everything from cutting fruit behind the bar to fixing the air conditioning. Price for Value. Excellent! Rooms are very distinctive and I liked how you maintained the old French architecture while offering modern amenities. WONDERFUL.

Room Tip: The superior is well worth the extra few bucks

Good location right in the heart of town. The room were clean and quiet even though he hotel in right on the main street. Despite this i would recommend a room at the back of the hotel to escape the heat of the afternoon sun which shines straight onto the room. The stairs up to rooms are a little difficult to negotiate for anyone with bad knees however that is only real drawback. Plenty of hot water in e shower. Staff are friendly and helpful. The meals were nice.

Room Tip: See comments. Choose a room at the back.

The Inthira Hotel in Thakhek is really great.
Unfortunately we stayed there just for a night but this night was excellent.
The hotel is very modern and well cared for. The rooms are very great and therefore the prices are a little higher than we usually pay for.
Also the food is very good. They serve western style burgers but also Lao style food.
The only thing to complain was that at the reception they could neither tell us about how to get to the Kong Lor cave nor when buses are leaving in this direction. So we had to organize it on our own which was quite exciting.
But all in all a good option to stay in Thakhek even because the town itself does not have so many attractions it is quite comfortable to have a great room and a good restaurant nearby.
