Leena Guesthouse

There's nothing fancy about Leena's, but it's a great place for people on a budget. Rooms are quite cheap (especially if you're OK with fans), and there are food and drinks available for decent prices. It can be quite fun to sit in the patio area and have a Beer Lao with other guests. Leena is a tough, no-nonsense woman who is nevertheless quite helpful if you have questions. The staff are friendly and unobtrusive. Most of Savannakhet can is well within walking distance, and the guesthouse is very quiet at night.

The aircon didn't work well in the room which was small and pokey. The restaurant wouldn't let us in on the evening and we left before breakfast. If you do not like insects this hotel isn't for you as it is filled with them. All over the room despite the doors being closed. The bed was hard and lumpy however for one night and a low price I was passable.

Only stayed here for a night because there is nothing to do in this town. Their aircon room was the cheapest at 60 000 with what you normally pay 100 000 kip elsewhere. Rockhard beds, blanket not thick enough for the cold aircon. Bathroom is pretty clean. Didnt eat at their restaurant. The only person who can understand English is a young man. The rest of the staffs there seemed to have permanent unhappiness look on their faces. They wont buy bus tickets for you - you have to do it yourself. They also wont call the tuk-tuk for you. You have to walk outside and hail one yourself.

Room Tip: Back rooms have no wifi

Leena the daughter helpful for the most part...rooms average for the money but ours included a lot of early morning construction noise nearby...food is prepared by another older sister who seems somewhat disgruntled that her name is not representing the guest house; food is very average and served in a surly manner! You have to find a family/staff member to place an order for anything, even in the restaurant! The bicycles also operated by the 'other' sister are run down and mostly broken in some way. She only pumps tyres and that is it! Internet is lousy in the rooms. No taxi service to the airport and with several family owned motor vehicles on site could not even arrange a tuk tuk for us so we walked up to the highway and eventually met our flight to Vientiane..overall this place is sadly over rated!

Room Tip: Not #35 with the electric saw starting up early morning over the fence!

Went for cheap room only 50,000kip can't expect much for that, and didn't get much. Small room, fan cold water on suite, firm asian style bed. But fine for a night for onward travel. Room is clean, staff spoke good English, can't complain.
