“Great hotel, excellent in every respect”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 20, 2012

This was a really nice experience in every respect. The hotel is located in Almere, about 30 minutes by car from Amsterdam Schiphol airport (where I had to go the next morning). Free parking directly in front of the hotel. The check-in was fast and staff very friendly. The rooms are very spacious, nicely designed, with a large bathroom featuring separate bathtub and shower, perfectly clean, flatscreen TV and complimentary WIFI. The included breakfast was great and had plenty of choices. I did not get out in the evening, but I saw some restaurants in walking distance and a park with some lakes behind the hotel. Should also be easy to get to Amsterdam, but I did not go. Check-out the next morning was without any problem, fast and friendly. I must really say that this hotel was well beyond my expectation and a very pleasant experience, very good value for the money!!

It's always a disappointment to travel to a great city (Amsterdam) yet know that you'll be around 40min outside it and therefore out of reach !! It was therefore an unexpected surprise to find this very pleasant hotel within the modern, somewhat sanitised town that is Almere. Even the hotel from the outside looks like a "motel"; but as soon as you enter, you meet cool soft furnishings and a very modern interior. Plush purple sofas, candel light, subtle modern fireplaces, and a lovely bar by the water's edge. The hotel also boasts a small gym and a very warm indoor pool (regrettably which was out of order when I was there). The rooms are very spacious and very quiet. And the food is good. A very nice stay if you HAVE to be in Almere. Be warned - room service only available if you are staying in a suite - unless you plead (which I did !)

Room Tip: Haggle an upgrade to the duluxe / executive rooms on the first floor; and get one facing the water.

This hotel was first class....a gem...and just a short drive from Amsterdam. This place is so worth it. After trekking through Europe during one of the hottest Augusts in Europe, we stayed at the Van Der Valk Hotel. Perfectly air conditioned rooms! Immaculately clean! The furniture and decor were gorgeous all around! The buffet breakfast was amazingly delicious! And the best part, the rate was so affordable at around 100 euros for a family of 4 (we got an extra bed in the room). I can not say enough about this place except if you get the chance, stay here!

I stayed at this hotel a couple of times in April-May. The hotel was really good and the rooms were very spacious - infact one of the most spacious hotel room I have seen, very well kept and clean. The rooms at the back side has a nice view of the small lake, which was beautiful as well. Amazing location for a stroll in the evening.
Will need own vehicle or use taxi to get around, since the place is a bit away from the city centre. Take aways at the oriental restaurant nearby were good. Overall a good experience, certainly the best option available in Almere.

Enjoyed the space, pool and fitness room. Breakfast was amazing. We rented a bike and made a tour through the nature reserve which is highly reconmended to see wild horses and other wild life. Weekend all in rate of €100 a night with breakfast was excellent.

Only negative point was over eagerness to remove guests from rooms. At 1150 maids start knocking and showing you their watch. Front desk calls aexactly at 1200 to also push you out. For their info I do know how to tell time and a 10 to 15 extra checkout window would be appreciated.

Booked this hotel during my business trip to Amsterdam, as all hotels in the city were fully booked due to big trade fair. I have to say that it is great alternative to overpriced Amsterdam. Located about 30 minutes away, very well connected to highway, easy access by car (not sure about public transport though). Large guestrooms (twice larger than average guestroom in Amsterdam) and moderate rates make perfect option of this hotel. What I liked the most: everything is new and fresh, huge bathroom with separate bathtub and large rain-shower, coffee and tea facilities in the room free of charge, WiFi free of charge, big parking free of charge, easy access. Among minuses: might be difficult to reach by other means of transport than a car, as well as a waiting queue during check-in... about 10 minutes - but it can happen in every hotel. Overall - very satisfied! Great hotel!

Modern hotel (opened in 2011). Close to the expressway to Amsterdam, spacious rooms, excellent service, good value for money. Dinner menu a bit limited. Free parking, wifi.
