“Luxurious business hotel with a very accesible price”
Reviewed November 13, 2011

This is a designer hotel, located in a town near Amsterdam (about 20 minutes by train). The hotel is quite luxurious, with designer rooms, really nice reception area and good convention and meeting installations The hotel also has a nice restaurant. The price is quite good for a hotel of this category, and the breakfast is included. The breakfast was quite luxurious, with huge selection of food, including smoked salmon, natural fruit juices and a lot of other gourmet selections. This hotel is really a luxury hotel with a very nice price. The only but, is that it is quite far away from any form of public transport, in the middle of nowhere. The closest train station is about 5 km away, which means unless you have a car, you will have to take a taxi to reach the hotel. If you can overlook this, this is a really good business hotel, for an impressive price.

Great business hotel, very new and luxuriously appointed. Rooms are huge and very comfortable, bathrooms are excellent - enormous bath tub and walk in shower. Tea and coffee included in the room, and the free wifi is excellent. I really enjoyed supper in the restaurant - not cheap by any means (€10 for starter, €21 for main) but excellent quality.

Downsides would be lack of room service (though you can bring food up from the restaurant yourself) and that the hotel is a distance from the centre of town.

However, for a reasonably priced hotel aimed at business travellers, I don't think you can go wrong.

The rooms are very large, but they feel cold and not particularly welcoming. The bathroom is a plus, big, comfortable and well appointed. There are long and large corridors to get to the room and the whole hotel is very spacious.
Breakfast was very good too and parking was free. All in all a good hotel, but lacking some character.

Van der Valk Almere is well located for city trips to Amsterdam and other touristic places. The rooms are large and well equipped. They serve a good buffet breakfast at the restaurant, which has a large terrace also. The other meals are served here too and it is honest and good food.
The bar also has a terrace.
Free wifi or free use of the hotel computers, swimming pool and spa, and efficient staff complete this very good hotel.

Very large rooms but no minibars, no room service and not even à pad with paper and pen. For me it was too modern, cold or minimalistic. Staff seemed à little inexperienced and not overly friendly. Breakfast was fine, wifi worked well. Free parking.

My husband and I travelled to Almere on business and stayed in the Van der Valk for 3 nights. The room was extremely spacious and clean. The bathroom was huge and very inviting! Breakfast was lovely with a good variety and choice, which really set us up for the day. We had dinner in the hotel on our first evening, which was a pleasant experience. The only criticism being a lack of choice for vegetarians and the service was rather slow, but we did enjoy it!
We will definitely stay at the Van der Valk again, as the price was very reasonable for a 4 star hotel. We plan on returning in the near future to visit friends and take in the sights of Amsterdam, which we love. A taxi from the hotel to the train station, costs 10 euros. The train takes you straight into Amsterdam.
In our opinion, the hotel is worth a visit!

Room Tip: Our room was a standard double overlooking the car park. The view wasn't inspiring, but was very...
