Mbuyuni Farm Retreat has been rebuilt on the beautiful organic farm, and is better than ever. The new cottages are even more spacious and each has an open plan kitchen incorporated into the main room (perfect for self-catering). The cottages look out over a large paddock where horses graze peacefully, onto the ever-changing view of the Uluguru mountains. The natural gardens screen each cottage for privacy, and there is a tempting blue pool to dip into after a dusty drive. Food is as good as always, and the impeccable service is unchanged.
The cottages are now completely solar powered, ensuring uninterrupted power, which is something most Africa residents are not used to! This truly is an eco-lodge; with water harvest dams, organic principles of farming, reforestation and now totally solar powered. Come for as long as you can and unwind in the tranquil surroundings.

Room Tip: All are as good as each other.

After a long day working in Morogoro there was nothing better than the 20 minute ride away to the farm and shaking off the challenges of the day. If you want privacy, natural sounds (cicadas from dusk and birds at dawn), beautiful views, tasteful decoration and organic food this is the place for you to consider. I've just stayed for 9 nights and was so pleased I found this delightfully slightly off the beaten track paradise. Owned by a German family who started their love affair with Tanzania with the grandfather and now 25 years later the third generation continues this passion.
So if you enjoy good food (did I mention well priced wine) and splendid surroundings (did I mention the swimming pool) and your privacy (alongside hundreds of different bird species - twitcher heaven) this is the place for you

I was working in Morogoro, and my family joined me for two months - and staying at Mbuyuni made our time in Morogoro a fantastic experience. The house and the grounds are beautiful. There are many birds that provide a beautiful soundtrack. The pool is well-maintained. The staff are extremely helpful. We stayed in a cottage with a kitchen, and we were able to prepare meals everyday. We ate outside looking up at the Uluguru mountains. Relaxing on the hammock or reclining chairs was a great end to any day. Our daughter also enjoyed visiting and feeding the pigs and chickens. Janush was a wonderful host who checked in on us continuosly. The location is about 20 minutes from downtown Morogoro (about $12 by taxi). We had a fantastic driver who spoke English (and taught us some Swahili)...Abraham, local phone: 0717160069.

As a frequent traveler who often stays for long durations around the world, I thoroughly enjoyed the quiet location. Even if I don't return with my family, I will stay here again. For those that don't want to cook, the staff can prepare meals (Mbuyuni offers a variety of meal packages). We also got a USB modem in town, and had internet access during our stay. FYI: they only accept cash -- which you can bring or access through any of the many ATMs in town. I highly, highly recommend Mbuyuni...and look forward to my next trip!

As owner of Chaka Africa Travel and specialized in Southern Parc of Tanzania, I always visited the Mbuyuni farm from Simone and her lovely family.

My last trip was Oct 2013 with 9 ladies and stay in 3 cottages and all the ladies were deep impressed about the beauty from his farm and surrounding.
The lovely food from the girls and special attention from the son of Simone : Janush.

Asante sana !!

stayed here overnight in cottage #3 after a long and sweaty hike, loved loved loved it! 4 of us in a spacious cottage, it is clean, has great decor, comfortable beds, cooling inside as there are fans inside and outside! We ate dinner and breakfast there and it was truly delicious food! An amazing view from the dining area looking out onto the farm, manage to see a monkey run across!

would stay here again in a heartbeat :)

A wonderfully thought out and welcoming place just outside Morogoro with incredible attention to detail and impeccable service. The cottages are beautifully designed and decorated and feel very homely. Meals (all delicious) are taken outside on the veranda with views of the farm and distant mountains. Masses of cushions and comfortable seating are scattered around with the hammock the most appealing. The pool is fantastic and early morning walks are a must. Overall, very relaxing, refreshing and welcoming.

So, after a long mountain hike my partner and I arrived at the beautiful farm retreat, and now I see why it only has 5 star reviews. It's truly deserved.

The place is beautiful! It certainly has the "retreat" part right, our intention was to come escape the hustle and bustle for a night and we certainly did that. The cottages were amazingly private and beautifully finished, even compared to some high end hotels we have been lucky enough to stay at before, the finishing is top notch. The service was impeccable, a perfect balance of enough service AND enough privacy.

Then... the food! Wow, this was by far my favorite part of the stay, every meal was more then enough to satisfy our ridiculous hunger and the quality was amazing. Furthermore, we were very luck to find the rooms had my very favorite South African wine stocked (Landskroon 2010 Shiraz) at a very reasonable price. Also, all dietary restrictions were also taken into account without any issues.

I would happily recommend this to anyone, it's a fantastic place and we will certainly be back!

Room Tip: They are all amazing and cant see any fault with any of them.
