A chance recommendation led us to this great find. Wonderful menu, top service, excellent well cooked food, very good red wine (Sangiovese Merlot) by the glass at normal prices and no sting in the bill. Had a look at the rooms so we can return and enjoy some more. Thanks Kelly.
Rabbit on outstanding gratin, monkfish with delicious light curry sauce. Own breads with pate and cheeses a pure delight. Go!

Lovely country hotel. we had a room on the front & didn't have a problem with road noise, the bed was comfortable & the room cosy. maybe because we closed the big heavy curtains it kept the noise (if there was any) out...
The food was outstanding, we were looked after very well and would recommend a visit. we shall without a doubt return.

Quite often you don't get what you pay for. At the Fox, you simply do. Highly comfortable; clearly a lot of thought has gone into the fine details of the bedrooms. Outstanding food and service; they have made the very best of a restaurant and bar area not ideally laid out. Easily forgotten with the inspired cooking and service.

Room Tip: Rooms at the rear will be quieter

We went here for our anniversary, Excellent, Room Clean, with little extra touches, Choc's and fruit.
Evening meal fantastic, could not fault the choice and the cooking.
Breakfast equally as good, One tiny moan, the orange juice let the breakfast down slightly, as it tasted a bit cheap.
We will certainly return.

Loved this intimate little place, chosen for walking (her) and good food (him). Did not disappoint. Very comfy beds and pillows (though double, not king size). Dinner wonderful every night and good wine list too. Breakfast delicious - recommend the smoked salmon in particular. Only slight drawback is hotel right on road so front bedrooms hear the traffic, but road not busy at night and it wasn't a problem. Very friendly service, nothing too much trouble. Liked the complimentary sherry. Will definitely come back and recommend to others.

Room Tip: room 1 is biggest and has bath. but smaller room 3, where we started, had a great shower and was qui...

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The Samuel Fox Country Inn is situated in the pretty village of Bradwell in the heart of the Hope Valley in Derbyshire's peak District National park and offers breathtaking views from the bar and restaurant. The building underwent a full refurbishment in July 2008 and is modern and stylish while still managaing to retain its rustic charm. All of its rooms are delux double rooms with en-suite bathrooms; they have at least 26 inch flat screen televisions;internet access and coffee and tea facilities. In October 2012 the Inn was acquired by new manager and head chef, James Duckett in his first pub venture after an early career in the kitchens of fine dining restaurants in the UK, France, Netherlands and Australia and, more recently running his own restaurants in Devon and Andalucia. James is passionate about food and uses, wherever possible, good locally sourced, seasonal ingredients to create mouthwatering dishes, for his 'blackboard' bar snacks and a la carte lunch and dinner menus alike. With two AA rosettes, fine food is a special feature of the Samuel Fox. However, there's also a very warm welcome awaiting those wishing to just enjoy a drink in comfortable and convivial surroundings. ... more   less
