Good points: Lovely location, clean hotel, friendly staff, nice food.

Bad points: VERY noisy rooms (we could hear next doors TV quite audibly). At £95pppn for B&B, I expect better.

The spa treatments are over-priced, and not very good at all. It was my Partners first experience which was disappointing. We booked a salt scrub (30 mins for £30 each) but this was more like a 10 minute salt spread (no scrubbing whatsoever!) and then a shower off. I have experienced the real deal in Thailand where you are scrubbed for 30 minutes, so this was very disappointing. The 60 minute (£60) massage wasn't much better and my Partners finished a good 10 minutes before mine, so another let down.

I did email my feedback to the hotel but 'surprise surprise' have heard nothing back!

Doubt we'll return. The Cheshire Cheese pub down the road looks far better value for money.

I am pleased that the reviewer enjoyed her stay at the Losehill.
The hotel is in an incredibly quiet location and falls silent remarkably early on most nights - even this reviewer noted in the email that the television she could hear was switched off at 11.00pm.
The spa is very well received by our guests - many with substantial experience in spa's around the world. The treatment in question is a 30 min including sea salt scrub / shower /moisturiser and the girls were very concerned that the reveiwer was unhappy.
I was however, late in responding to the email feedback and will certainly act quicker in future!

We recently spent a splendid weekend at Losehill House with our two young children. The hotel is clean and smart, and without exception the staff were friendly and helpful, anticipating our requirements on several occasions. The restaurant was excellent for both dinner and breakfast with a range of choices (I can recommend the oatcake with bacon and cheese as an alternative to the full Derbyshire breakfast). The pool was a good size for a gentle swim and enough space for our two young boys to splash about in uninterrupted for 1/2 hour each day.

My sister and I enjoyed a one night stay at this superb hotel. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The room was excellent. The pool and outdoor hot tub were excellent. The dinner was lovely, fresh local produce. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, reception staff were exceptionally good and professional. I would recommend this hotel to anyone

Stayed here for a short break recently and hotel facilities and staff were all up to our expectations. The room was spacious with excellent views, and staff were attentive and helpful without going over the top. Unfortunately we were disappointed in the food.

The problem was the the variability in quality. In general such things as pre-meal amuse bouches, starters, desserts were all very good. But main courses and other cooked parts of meals were not. One evening I had lamb which was the toughest I have had for some time and the accompanying leeks were tough/hardly cooked. I noticed a diner on the next table struggling like me with the lamb, and I saw another diner send something back. Cooked breakfasts could also be summed up similarly. Fruit/cereal and other first courses were excellent, but the cooked traditional breakfast was obviously not freshly prepared (it was not self service from a buffet). The bacon was leathery, and the scrambled egg, tomato and mushroom were very limp, all obviously having been kept warm for some time.

It seems a pity because the hotel obviously prides itself on the food quality. Maybe we hit a difficult time, but I think that hotels should be able to deliver quality consistently.

I was disappointed with the rump of lamb in question on that night althouh it is purchased from the premier butcher in the Peak District, never the tenderest cut but usually very tasty.

With regards the breakfast - every breakfast is cooked to order by the chefs and is normally very well received; we don't use a buffet system to avoid the problems of food not being freshly prepared.

Our team of chefs were very concerned by the comments and have taken on board all of the criticism constructively.

Just returned from a relaxing 2 nights stay at Losehill House Hotel and Spa. Really enjoyed the spa, sauna and swimming pool and a fantastic evening meal. I am a vegetarian and for once I wasn't disappointed. Breakfasts were lovely with wonderful fresh locally sourced produce and freshly squeezed orange juice. We also enjoyed a wonderful massage - there were so many treatments it was hard to choose. The staff were excellent, exceptionally helpful, hard working and frindly - nothing was too much trouble . We will definitely be returning, a pelasure to stay somewhere with this quality standard of service and customer attention.
