I stayed at this Hotel over the week-end of 23rd/25th November,as a surprise birthday break for my wife. We stayed in the Edale suite as I wanted something special for her and it lived up to expectations, nice room with excellent bed, lounge area, and great bathroom. I had asked for flowers to be left in the room for our arrival, and I can honestly say they were the best flowers I have ever ordered in any hotel anywhere. The food in the restaurant was excellent for dinner and breakfast, but above everything, the attentive service and friendliness of all the staff was a real credit to the Hotel. Very efficient, and attentive without being pretentious in any way, unlike other Spa Hotels we have stayed at. The Dining experience was a real pleasure.
The only negative was the pool area which was cold and uninviting once it was dark outside (4.0pm) and the lounge area by the pool was not somewhere you would want to stay. That said the girls giving Spa Treatments were excellent.

Room Tip: The Edale suite has its own internal and external access , and was extremely quite as it is in its o...

Thank-you for your kind comments - we checked the pool and air temperatures and they have been increased as the weather has cooled - we are also increasing the frequency of checks to ensure that the doors to the hot tub on the terrace have been closed to keep in the heat!

I won the stay for 2 at Losehill including some treatments through an auction and was able to extend it to include another two friends for the ultimate girlie break.

We arrived a little later than anticipated and I had failed to note that we needed to book our treatments in advance and was worried when they said the spa was fully booked - this was completely unnecessary though because they had actually allocated us all time slots on both the first and the second day (very attentive!) Great welcome on arrival; friendly and explained where everything was, with that we were taken to our rooms and then treated straight away to a massage - which was needed after the 4hr drive!

We had dinner in the hotel on the first night including a bottle of fizz and have to say the 3 courses for £35 was reasonable the food all tasted amazing and staff where very friendly and attentive enough. Slept well (though was a bit warm - this was because we had left the radiator on full so our own fault). The room was clean and spacious and had everything we needed including our robes and slippers.

We didn't have breakfast there (although we could have added it on) this was because we chose to pop out to the local town for brunch - which was also lovely (think steak ciabatta with mushrooms, onions, cheese and mustard!) and then went back for more treatments including a facial and eyebrow wax. The girls where lovely who dealt with all of us and was extremely relaxing. We used the spa facilities including the sauna, the spa pool and the hot tub - which was outside and although it was covered up there was a note explaining it was in use and what to do and it was worth it even in November. We also indulged in their afternoon tea which was heaven; the scones were fresh and warm - only suggestion would be to be fresh tea leaves over a bag and a variety of teas to chose from would be nice.

We did you out to for dinner that evening to a pub about a 10 - 15 min walk from the hotel - just for variety - and got invited to join their quiz night as well as enjoy another fine meal.

It was an amazing stay everyone was lovely and whilst some of the staff where young and obviously learning it is nice to see a business giving young local people a chance to learn and earn money and there were more experienced staff their if needed.

Would love to go back and would recommend happily things like the road up to it aren't really a big issue I live in Norfolk and work with farmers so small winding roads are nothing new and are worth it.

I can highly recommend this hotel if you are looking for peace and quiet! wonderful setting, great food, although menu does not include your daily intake of vegetables! never the less it is to a great standard, breakfast especially. The staff are helpful and friendly and the rooms are first class. I went on a botanical art course (these are run on a regular basis at this hotel by Field Breaks). For anyone who likes to walk the surrounding area of Edale, Hope, Castleton all set in the Peak District National Park are almost on the doorstep-only half hour drive to Chatsworth.

Thank-you for the kind feedback - with regards the vegetable content - its all there in the meals but not necessarily in the usual fully constituted form, being puree or juice - the flavour and goodness without the water content!

We went to Losehill for the first time for a romantic getaway and had a great time. The room (#12) was comfortable with a great view and it had a bed to sink into :-) The bathroom was large, though it would have be better had it been a bit more luxuriously appointed. The restaurant is lovely, beautifully decorated with large windows facing the hills. The meals were fine dining, and although delicious, we would have preferred some more mainstream options as well. We used the spa and had some treatments - the girls were great. The area around the pool to 'lounge about' was disappointingly limited, the pool a little cool and the hot tub looked out of use. We had a lovely time and would be very happy going back - address the areas raised and it will be superb.

We really appreciate constructive feedback - and its great that you enjoyed your stay. We are moving to a more wintery selection of dishes on the menu and will indicate which dishes are more hearty!
Whilst the pool area is small we will work on the comfort and ensure that the hot-tub is in use whenever possible, it should be every day.

My youngest son and his wife have just got married at Losehill House Hotel and we spent three days and two nights there. I cannot praise the hotel enough for all their hard work that went into making the wedding absolutely fantastic. We stayed the night before the wedding and seven of the girls had a meal in the restaurant in the evening while a large party went elsewhere to eat. The food was delicious and the service excellent. The next morning the hotel was a hive of activity getting ready for the ceremony and then they had to clear away to make ready for the wedding breakfast. Their eye to detail was second to none and all the staff that worked during the run up to the wedding, during and after should give themselves a pat on the back! The wedding breakfast meal was again extremely delicious, the service was excellent and nothing was too much trouble for the team. The Hotel itself is a delight, the public areas are lovely and cosy and the rooms are first class - kept to a very high standard I would thoroughly recommend Losehill as a wedding venue or just for a break.

We stayed at Losehill House for three nights, dinner, bed and breakfast. The prices are high so we expected a great stay. The location is undoubtedly fabulous with great views in all directions, but its situation at the end of a single-track lane meant that on 3 occasions I had to reverse some distance in order to allow vehicles to pass: good for one's driving skills!
The room was spotlessly clean and furnished in a contemporary style. The bathroom was large, but cold: it only had the towel-rail as heating and once covered in towels, it did little good. The hot water was unpredictable, particularly first thing in the morning, and took ages to run hot, wasting so much water. The sound-proofing left a great deal to be desired; we could hear everybody around us: plumbing, TVs, personal conversations and a lot of things we did not want to hear!
The food was good and the quality of the ingredients was excellent. However, it was very pretentious and out of place for its country house location. It was certainly not for the hearty appetite.
The staff were young and seemed poorly-trained. They were, on the whole friendly, but only if confronted with a guest. The chambermaids were folding towels in full sight of the breakfasting guests. On two occasions our breakfast was marred by inattentive waiting at table. Our last morning, when we were keen to get on the road, we had to wait 40 minutes for our toast!

I am very pleased that you enjoyed the location and the excellent food - unfortunately the price of such great views and unmatched location is the long country lane!
We have recently fitted new carpets and curtains to all of our bedrooms which has significantly improved the sound proofing so Im disappointed that you could hear your neighbours.
The hotel has a remarkably good heating system and has a ready supply of hot water to all rooms 24hrs - but first thing in a morning at the furthest point in the hotel it can take a good few seconds to get the hot water flowing.
We are very proud to say that our staff are all local and we recruit both young and more experienced into the team - they are usually commended on friendliness and certainly react to any requests or mistakes that may have been made - ie 40 minute toast could have been easily fixed with a quiet reminder!

My friend and I booked in for a Spa Day, which included lunch. Not very welcoming staff greeted us at reception and just handed us our dressing gown packs, leaving us to find our own way downstairs to the change rooms, sauna, swimming pool and out door hot tub. No one showed us round or how to work different pieces of equipment; one of us had to make THREE trips in our dressing gowns upstairs to the main reception area to ask one of the three people there questions or to fix stuff that didn't work - no slippers in one pack; light not working in the sauna; hot tub needing cover off. Having said all that and got everything sorted, we actually had a most enjoyable relaxing day looking at the fabulous views from the hot tub, swimming lazily up an down the nice pool, and having a sauna. Cushions on the loungers would have been nice though! Thoroughly enjoyed lunch upstairs - lovely views from the table and bar, food most enjoyable, and, finally, good service!
So all in all, a very nice day - only spoiled by poor staff and service in the reception area.

Thank-you for the feedback - we all take customer comments very seriously. Our Reception team usually ask guests if they have visited before and if not direct them to the spa area and explain the facilities - there is also a phone in the spa to call reception.
I am really pleased you enjoyed the hot tub and the lunch in the Orangery - and the great views from both!
