The hotel is set in a lovely quite location, staff are excellent paid a really attention to detail and my eating habits. They are very welcoming and polite. Not far from Hope within walking distance where there are a few pubs, may want a torch if you are planning to walk back.

Orangerie room is lovely for drinking tea, eating cakes and even the pre dinner drinks!

We had dinner in the hotel for the first night and the food was good a good choice. The only problem i had was it was a little cold as its a buffet style and the plates are cold - but we did eat late.

The breakfasts were excellent a large choice of cereal, porridge, fruit, muffins, yoghurt, toast, croissants and juice and a cooked breakfast - certainly didn't go away hungry!!

I would certainly come back - a nice relaxing weekend in a lovely clean hotel.

Fantastic relaxing hotel in superb surroundings, we somehow managed to book one night (bank holiday Saturday) last May at the last minute and were so plesently surprised by this wonderful find!

You can really get away from life's stresses and strains, relax in the comfy orangerie or in your room, take a dip in the pool or even brave the elements and nip out to the outdoor hot tub, where you can gaze over the beautiful valley (if only you could take a glass of champagne too!)

It's an expensive night or 2 away, but well worth every penny!

My boyfriend booked a two night stay here for us for my birthday surprise treat - and what a treat it was!

The hotel is in a beautiful location, on the slopes of Losehill, and about a mile or so outside of Hope, but it’s a nice enough walk into the village if you fancy a pub beer or need supplies for your pack-lunch. (The short stretch of the road without a footpath can be a little hairy as the cars do speed around the corners, so I would recommend a torch if you’re returning after dark.)

We arrived a little before check-in time and were shown to our room but were requested not to use the hotel facilities until after 3:30pm. This wasn’t a problem to us as we had left our map of the area at home and wanted to walk into Hope to buy another. By the time we got back to the hotel afternoon tea (with amazing cakes!!) was being served so we sat in the beautiful Orangerie drinking tea, eating cakes and planned our walking routes. (By the way, we later found out that the hotel also sells good walking maps, and they’re a bit cheaper than the ones in Hope!).

We didn’t eat in the hotel on the first night but tried the pubs in Hope which provided good pub grub at very reasonable prices.

We did, however, eat in the hotel on the second night. It was a carvery and the meat was excellent but I was a little disappointed with the vegetables. There was every kind of mash or stodge that you could imagine (mashed potatoes, mashed Swede, cauliflower and broccoli cheese, stuffing, to name a few) but no real vegetables (cabbage, Brussels, carrots, peas, beans, courgettes, etc.) – a little fussy of me perhaps, but I do like my veggies to be recognisable as vegetables! Regardless of that, there was certainly enough to eat and the starters and deserts were very tasty.

The breakfasts were probably the highlight of my stay! The choice of cereal, porridge, fruit, muffins, yoghurt, toast, croissants and juice AND THEN a cooked breakfast (full English, smoked haddock, eggs however you wanted, omelette, etc.) was just fantastic!

I would say the only real problem we found at this hotel was the pretentiousness of some of the guests. Yes, this hotel is quite expensive, but all the guests have paid the same tariff whether you spend the day in walking gear or suit and tie! (I personally think the staff prefer the walking gear types anyway!!) But the majority of the guests and certainly the staff more than compensate for a couple of ignorant and ill-mannered families.

Overall a relaxing hotel in a beautiful setting with friendly and attentive staff, good (and plentiful!) food, nice facilities, spectacular views and a real treat to visit.

Stayed for 2 nights 22 Aug 07.
Excellent location, Rooms superb, Breakfast top class. Only had the evening meal one of the nights and although it was a buffet it was excellent. The Orangery is a superb room to chill. Don't go if you want late night partying it is aimed at chilling out. Indoor Swimming pool small but enough to unwind as opposed to Olympic training. Outside Hot tub overlooking Hope Brink Hill, great! Sauna small (seat about six) but adequate. All the staff were friendly and very attentive.
Will definitely return.

When we arrived at the hotel we knew that we were far too early to book in at 11.30am, but thought that we might be able to buy a cup of cofee before heading off for a walk. We were told that our bags could stay, but we would have to return when afternoon tea was served. So back out into the pouring rain we went ! This was not a first good impression, but on returning to the hotel we realised that all our doubts were ill founded. We were welcomed back by very friendly staff who showed us to a modern and clean room with all the facilities you could ever want. The bathroom was the best we have ever come across in any hotel, and I found the magnifying mirror a useful touch. The hotel is peaceful, set in wonderful surroundings, and the staff are friendly and obliging. The orangery is a pleasant place to sit and relax, or to have afternoon tea and cake (which is included in the cost)
If I had to be really critical I would say that the choice of food in the evening is limited, and that I have had better pub carveries than that served on the Saturday evening ( the meat was dry, and overcooked, - unlike the vegetables which were slightly too al dente, and the base of the cheesecake totally soggy) However, you get what you pay for. All the food is very nicely presented. Breakfasts are very nice with an excellent choice.
Would we go back? Most definately - it was excellent value for money in comfortable surroundings (just don't arrive before 3.00pm)
