Stayed for Xmas 2011. The location is beautiful, lots of hill walking, views from the room were lovely. Every member of staff was friendly and professional. The room was great, comfy bed, lovely pillows! En-suite fitted with quality and elegance. Swimming pool quiet, outdoor hot tub suitably warm. All other guests were happy and friendly. And I've saved the best for last, the food, wow! Fresh home cooked food, modern menu with plenty of choice. The quality of the food was fantastic, if I lived closer I would find it hard not to to eat there regularly. All the little extras like mulled wine, champagne, home made mince pies, etc. made Xmas very special. The owners and staff clearly try hard, and it pays off.

We have just returned from a Christmas break at Losehill House. Our room was very comfortable, the food was excellent and the scenery unforgettable. The staff were very attentive and friendly and the complementary facial I had was wonderful. We would certainly visit this hotel again and recommend it to our friends.

Had a lovely stay at this friendly hotel. Location is brilliant with nice views. Everywhere tastefully decorated, comfy beds. Hot tub & pool great to relax in after a walk. Wish we could have stayed longer, will definitely be back

I don't understand the rave reviews of this hotel. My girlfriend booked this hotel and we had high expectations given the great reviews.

The room we booked was small and noisy (we were woken at 6:45am with next doors TV blaring out cartoons), this really shouldn't happen at the price we paid.

The staff were mainly unsmiling and looked like they didn't want to be there. We tried to phone reception/restaurant to order a room service breakfast but gave up after 10 minutes hanging on the phone.

I wouldn't waste money on this ''hotel'', there are several much nicer pubs in the area, much better value for money.

Room Tip: Ask for a larger room, and one that is guaranteed to be quiet!

I am obviously very disappointed by the experience and as commented in the review this does not reflect the normal response to a visit here to Losehill. We have investigated the issues raised and always take feedback very seriously- seeking to improve our guests experience wherever possible; but unfortunately nothing was brought to our attention at the time of the stay back in October which is unfortunate. From the comments it would appear that these guests did not have a meal at the hotel or use the swimming pool or had any spa treatments which may have enhanced their stay. The staff must have had a very bad day, as again the comments do not reflect the vast majority of the great feedback we receive about helpful, friendly, local staff.

We got married here in March 2011.

We had to book the whole hotel which wasn't cheap but it was well worth it. The views are stunning with the staff friendly and helpful. The food is really, really good and the atmosphere spot on.

I can't praise this place enough.

Room Tip: if you have a pet you can take him or her along for a litrtle extra staying in a Mews room.

Losehill is a great place to go as a base for the Peak District and as this was an area of the UK we had not explored, we decided to push the boat out and upgrade to a suite. So we recently stayed in the Edale Suite for a couple of nights. Overall the service from the staff was very good but we were slightly disappointed with the finish of the suite. The Edale suite is at the side of the hotel on the ground floor next to the staff car park, so you cannot leave the curtains and blind open so you can wake up to the view of the Peak District hills unless you are happy to be woken by car headlights or members of staff walking passed.
The Staff did rally around to find things when we needed them, but we should not really have had to ask. The room was spoilt by the little things really, like only one towel in the bathroom, having to ask for replacement toiletries, lots of nice tea lights in the bathroom, but no matches to light them with, no way of dimming the lights in the bathroom, a really pain in the middle of the night! We certainly did not expect that there would not be a TV in the bedroom and that the tap would fall off into the bath. It was alsonot good that the gowns in the wardrobe were still damp from previous guests when we arrived.
On a very positive note the food at Losehill is excellent. The Chef should be congratulated for the imagination and quality of the food prepared for both dinner and breakfast. My wife and I tried things we had never eaten before and were very impressed.
Overall a nice place to visit, but please do focus on the little things which make or break a visit,

Thank-you for the invaluable feedback - the Edale Suite is our largest suite with a separate lounge; a fantastic new sofa, along with a 32' TV, a super-king sized bedroom and a great bathroom with a double bath and wet area- but the experience was obviously spoiled during your stay by a drop in our normal standards. Our housekeeping team are very concerned at the apparent mistakes usually 4 towels and freshly laundered robes along with fresh filtered water each day. Our maintenance guy has fixed the broken tap ( less than 12 months old!) and we will certainly look at putting an extra TV into the bedroom. I'm really pleased that you enjoyed the Peak District and that the the quality of the food in the restaurant redeemed us somewhat!

Fabulous hotel with impeccable standard of service and helpfulness. Room was a delight, with an enormous bed and plenty of space. Food likewise excellent, especially the breakfast!
