Finding reviews of B&Bs can be hard, and thus a gamble when you book them. This was one where we struck lucky.

We booked the B&B through visitpeakdistrick.com which was quick and easy. More impressive was the time in which the owner, Jo, confirmed our reservation and then responded to our further email - all in the same day.

Finding the B&B wasn't the most straight forward however when you know exactly where it is it's not so bad - it's just a case of spotting the sign off the main road. Upon arrival, we were greeted very warmly by Jo, who showed us to the room.

The house is very modern and the rooms clean. We had a twin room which was reasonably equipped (radio, tv, dvd player and selection of DVDs) but which lacked some storage for clothes. Although for an overnighter or perhaps a weekend, this is not necessarily a problem.

Breakfast was fresh and very tasty - Jo catered very well to our vegetarian needs.

In terms of location, the B&B is a good starting point for places like Castleton and Hathersage and doesn't take too long to get further afield. There are a few decent places to eat nearby (short drive) but you really need your own transport to get around.

In summary, Thornhill View is a great find. We were very pleased with our stay and we'd definitely stay there again.
