This was supposed to be a classic club sandwich all I can say is the bread was the best bit. Only 2 tiny and I mean tiny bits of chicken on both mine and my boyfriends sandwich. As we was sat outside we couldn't have our starters as starters they had to come as "sides" which is wrong. The staff said they couldn't monitor when people was ready to eat there mains. But what is wrong with people goin and telling the staff that they are ready!!! Was a good day spoilt sorry

We gave the Fallow Deer one more chance after several poor experiences recently, and booked a table for four; two adults and two children. Service was once again, sadly, very slow.
We had plenty of time to decide on a main meal before anyone came to take our order for drinks. Consequently, we ordered drinks and meals at the same time. The drinks didn’t arrive, but after about twenty minutes we spotted them on a tray on the bar. So we just got up, and fetched them ourselves. The waitress had warned us that the meals may take up to half an hour to arrive, but in the event it was nearer forty minutes. The meals once we got them were perfectly OK.
No one came to see us after we’d finished our main course, so we simply, waited a while, then got up, went to the bar and paid. For one round of drinks and one course we spent an hour and twenty minutes there.
In all fairness the place looked very busy when we arrived, but it soon thinned out. Whilst we waited I was observing the waitress who took our order, and she didn’t seem to stop for a second, dodging from one job to another, and the other staff seemed equally under pressure. The whole set-up seemed chaotic, and poorly managed. Maybe whoever is in charge (if anyone is in charge) should increase staff numbers or, maybe, take fewer bookings.
We won’t be returning until we start hearing better reports. A sad state of affairs for a restaurant we have used regularly, and enjoyed, since it opened.

We wanted a quick Sunday carvery after a drive through the Peaks. I'd seen this pub built a few years ago, thought it must be ok. Sadly not. On entering we were asked if we'd booked, it wasn't even busy. We sat for 5 mins before asking if we'd like drinks. We said we will order food too as we were ready. It took at least 5 mins for drinks to come and at least 20 mins for food to come. The young girl serving asked if we'd like any sauces or anything else. I asked for more gravy as the small pot wasn't enough for two. Another lady came and asked us if we wanted anymore veg to which we said yes, we got a load of potatoes, carrots and peas. But no more cauliflower cheese. We slowly ate away waiting for more gravy. It never arrived. The young girl serving kept walking past us. The only time she stopped was to ask if we'd finished whilst I still had a for in my hand and food in my mouth. The carvery beef was really dry, the pork was better. Veg was ok, roasties were anaemic looking and had a weird taste.
I went to the toilets, floor really greasy and none of the toilet cubicles had working locks.
Overall, not even cheap and cheerful. Best thing is lots of car parking space, a little play area outside for the kids. Other than that pretty lousy! Shame because it can only be a year or two old.

Food was cold, the burger meat was red on the inside , I was told they might change it or not. The plates where all but dropped on the table by a waitress who hardly even looked at us, except to be be dismissive again . Seats torn and stained, paper coming away and carpet threadbare ! No back ground music so that we could hear all the other guests complaining also!! So disappointing Fallow Dear..you do realise that you are starting to get a terrible reputation here now... Don't you ?!?

The restaurant is in a convenient position and a lovely setting. We had a friendly greeting on arrival and the food was good and fairly well priced. Our waitress, Charlotte, was very attentive and looked after our children really well.
