“What a view!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 23, 2006

We stayed one week at the Mykonos Grand in May and, appart from a couple of days with intense winds which were quite unpleasant and tiring, the weather was very nice and warm. Too early to bathe in the sea, though, very unfortunately, because its colours were really inviting and the beach was good!
The good thing about being there early was that the hotel was not at all packed ( nor the city), so everything was calm, and it was easy to find nice places to sunbathe, including some protected from the wind! Great to relax! (But for the ones looking for big party in the city, this season is still too quiet).

In any case the hotel location is perfect. Very near the airport and near the city as well.
We had a room with sea view and were really pleased! There was a small balcony with a table and two chairs, where we could relax and watch the beautiful sunset.
The room was very nice and quite big, and always kept very clean. The elegant marble gave it a nice touch.

The hotel is built in several levels, but if you don't like stairs, there are always lifts.
The pool is really nice and has also the direct impressive view to the island of Delos (worth a trip) and many sun chairs. We didn't use the Spa facilities, but they looked very relaxing.

Breakfast is good with a big and varied choice, there's something for every taste! And it's even better on the veranda, with the view ahead!
We dined at the hotel on the last night, and everything was tasty.

We always bought water and snacks at the small shop near the bus stop, as in the hotel all these things were quite expensive. But at least one cocktail with the beautiful view is compulsory! The island is expensive in general, but we were never really disappointed with the places where we ate. In general, service is good and the standard high.
We walked a couple of times to Ornos Beach, not too far, to eat, and can recommend Ornos restaurant, very trendy terrasse with nice music, and good food.

We mostly took the bus to town, but as sometimes it failed to come, we called a taxi, it's not too expensive and they have fixed prices.
Mykonos is very pretty, just loved the labyrinth streets and the whitness of the whole: perfect for photos! Sunset at the Little Venice is a must!
We hired a Smart one day and did a tour of the island, very nice beaches, even if the island itself is quite small!

We can only recommend this hotel, as we really had a great time and could relax completely. The setting is perfect and the service is good, we would go back anytime!

I stayed at the Mykonos Grand Hotel from July 13 to July 18, 2006. I found the hotel to be very nice. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were kept very clean. This hotel had washcloths in the bathrooms, which might sound like an odd comment to make, but the Royal Olympic Hotel in Athens were I stayed did not have washcloths. I stayed in a room that shared a small pool with a couple of other rooms. I rarely seen the other guests at this private pool, as I guess they were probably at the main pool, the beach, or in town. The food was very good here. I ate the continental breakfast and dinners/suppers here. They come around to the rooms several times a day with extra towls if you need them. The bed I had was very comfortable. The room had air conditioning. They show a movie each night at 9pm. There are two computers setup in the lobby for internet access for the guests. There is a small store near the hotel where you can get snacks, bottled water, soda pop, and personal items. You can also catch the bus to town at this store. A bus ticket to town was 1.10 euro when I was there.

  • Liked — Cleanliness
  • Disliked — Room was smaller than I anticipated.
  • Tips/Secrets — If you are not use to being in the sun, use sunscreen. You can burn very fast.

After having read all the bad reviews about this place, I was really worried because I had already booked; now that I’m back home, I just would never have left!!!
ROOM: we had a superior sea view room. It was perfect. Spacious, clean, designed in a “Greek minimal-chic”. The view was just superb, and the balcony was large. But pay attention because in our room area the only rooms that have such balcony are n. 335 (our) and 332. Other rooms had smaller balcony. The marble bathroom was also spacious and clean.
PUBLIC AREAS: Near the reception there is a little lounge area with books and a flat TV screen; there are 2 computers with free Internet connection. There is also a bazaar where you can buy souvenirs, newspapers and cigarettes (in the bazaar cigarettes cost 4 €, outside 2,80 € : better buying them outside). You can even find a little amphiteater and an open-air chess.
Pool is very salty, but I guess it’s sea water because Aegean Sea is the same; I expected it to be larger, but it was ok with very nice sun decks. There is a fantastic heated open-air Jacuzzi, gym seems ok ( I didn’t tried it, and the beach isn’t very large but is well organized and clean.
FOOD: The best part of the hotel!!! Breakfast was truly amazing, usually I eat only milk&cereals but this time I’ve tasted omelettes (delicious, good quality oil, don’t worry!!!), ham & bacon, potatoes croquettes, french toast...You can even drink Italian expresso coffee. We have never tried the pool restaurant (hamburger & french fries is not part of our usual menu and it seemed quite expensive), but nearby there is a market where it is possible to buy sandwiches, yoghurt and so on (and things cost sooooo less!!). We had half board and my advice is to do this because you spend less then the à la carte menu, every night we had a two-choice menu (always different and always....more than delicious!!! Really haute cuisine, thousands times better than the à la c. one...we NEVER ate something bad), and the location of the Dolphins of Delos is magical...a balcony on the sea, where you can dinner at candles light, with piano bar on Friday and Sunday, and the last night we even saw dolphins....there is no better restaurant in Mykonos town.
SERVICE: what could I say? Precise, attentive, never invasive.... some examples: when the manager showed us our room, I saw that it had twin beds and I wanted double bed (but hadn’t requested): just looking at my face, the manager understood it and called maids to transform it in a double bed (enormous, and very comfortable); then, at the pool & the beach, waiters passed offering some fruit, or relaxing water, or cold towels....everyone was friendly and nice, but spontaneously, and I think there’s nothing better than a professional but warm staff.
LOCATION: It is far from Mykonos, but for me it wasn’t bad because it is easy to arrive there in taxi (we never had troubles), and it’s not too far from Ornos, where you can go by boat to the main beaches. More important, it is on a beautiful sea directly looking to Delos. For me it was enough.
At the end, I would really come back again, to feel once again the splendid Mykonos Grand athmosphere. Thanks most of all to Ria, who has been quite like a mama for me.

We stayed at the Mykonos Grand for 8 nights in June. We enjoyed every minute of our stay. The room was large, the bed very comfortable, and the bathroom was big and spotless. The staff was friendly and very helpful. We had not arranged for transfers in advance through our travel agency so we emailed the hotel a few days before our arrival and they met us at the airport. They helped us book tours and brought us to the ferry on our last day. We went to town almost every night and we never waited long for a taxi (10 minutes) - we took that time at the lobby to browse the internet on the two computers with free internet. We took the bus a couple of times and it was fine.

The beach is perfect, clean, quiet. There is a good little taverna on the beach - we went there for lunch a few times. The pool area is just wonderful - just look at the pictures. The pool furniture was very nice and comfortable. Towards the end of our stay, they changed all the furniture at the pool, the pool bar and the beach. The new furniture was all white and even nicer. We were told that since there are a lot of repeat guests, they like to change the decor and update the look every couple of years. Everything was perfect and I would go back anytime.

Its excellent for Greece. Hotels in this country are a notch below some other countries.
Property in excellent condition. Food is very good. Great pool and views. Rooms all have excellent sunset views. Close to both town and great beaches. Nice spa and adequate gym. Maria and Suzy at the front desk were a great help planning events and recommending restaurants. Everyone is very friendly. I looked at other hotels while on the island and most were not in as good a shape as this one or had old and tired pools. This pool is a big plus. I would definitely stay here if I ever go back to Mykonos. Beware..the island is very windy

The location of the hotel is absolutely picture perfect. Great view of the sea from almost any angle and the island of Delos just across. The staff at the front desk was efficient, friendly and helpful. The waiters/waitresses at breakfast were cheerful and friendly.
Our room (second row from the bottom) was beautiful and the view from it even more so. Spacious room, attention to detail and decor. We enjoyed numerous sunsets from our small balcony. Good size bathroom w/ window. Housekeeping was great and room was always super clean. Pool area is meticulously cared for and with nice sun beds are in teak wood w/ cushions. In addition to the pool, the hotel has a nice small private beach for guests.
The manager, Panayiotis, is very kind, attentive and inquisitive as to how things are going. A big plus: he appreciates ANY and ALL feedback.

Everything was perfect (including the weather) except for 3 things:
First, if you are not an early bird and like to sleep in at least 'til 9:00 a.m. (that's what vacation is for) then better ask for a room further away from the breakfast restaurant and elevators.
Second, the evening barman (blond hair) at the lobby level bar was not as nice or friendly as he should have been (we had drinks there w/ friends 2 nights in a row) and he has his own "standard "of cocktails. Can't discuss a thing w/ him. Beware: Don't get the mojito! It's better elsewhere....
Third, given the high rating, type of resort and location on Mykonos, we were very surprised to see (and hear) quite a number of families w/ children.

Despite the 3 negative points, having stayed in different hotels on Mykonos (including Belvedere, Cavo Tagoo and Mykonos Blu) this was definitely the best. We look forward to returning next year.

I agree with other reviews that say that the he Mykonos Grand is a nice hotel but it is NOT a luxury hotel.

We stayed in one of the suites with a private deck which was totally NOT worht the extra cost. It turned out to be a tiny little deck that could barely fit two chairs, and our room was on the top level closest to the lobby so that even with the deck we had a totally obstructed view of the water.

The hotel is nice, but the quality is really cheap. Unless money is no object, the prices you'll have to pay at the hotel are obsene. Like $7 U.S. for tic -acs or $14 for a bloody mary.

It is also far from everything, so you are at the mercy of the bus schedule to get around the island. Taxis were sometimes an option, but often not available (there are only ~ 30 taxis on the entire island). One night we stayed in town until ~12:30 am, and ended up waiting over an hour for a taxi back to the hotel.

On a positive note, the staff was great, the pool was nice, and the breakfast buffet was really good.
