This little place is a real gem in Palaia. It does take sharp eyes to spot the sign and we missed it walking past. There are only a handful of tables inside and a small menu of very typical selections.
The menu is only in Italian but the waitress spoke some English and translated for us. Lots of typical local ingredients feature and the wine is inexpensive and very good. After mixed Tuscan starters, I had the pasta and was very pleased to find that it was not a huge wheelbarrow-sized portion. Attractively served in a cylindrical porcelain bowl - most unusual.
If you are looking for a restaurant that's not super-fancy, quite authentic and not overrun by masses of people, this is the place.
I've scored a little low on 'special occasions' below mainly because there are only a few tables and for a large party this place is too small. You'd be falling out of the window (beautiful view across Palaia) after your first bottle of red.
