“Delightful!”
Reviewed March 27, 2014

We went to El Pie Castillo for the set menu on Valentine's night.
Let me start by admitting that the ambience is definitely created by the exquisite interior; it is really like visiting a friend's home...warm and welcoming with beautiful décor. Very romantic.
The menu was ample; the food was well-cooked and the staff are wonderful.
We returned in early March; the ambience was exactly the same, as were the staff. However, my husband and I found the menu a little strange; heavily leaning towards savoury and sweet crepes.
Still, there are sufficient things to select if you are not in a 'crepe mood' (pun) so this quaint place is firmly ensconced on my favourite list.

“Menu of the day at El Pie Castillo, Aguilas”
Reviewed January 31, 2014

We had picked up a leaflet in the hairdressers advertising this restaurant a week before, so as it was lunchtime we parked the car in the car park of the port and strolled up the road and then up the hill to the restaurant entrance.
The entrance was not attractive, but once inside what a difference!! A real character room with tables in alcoves and candle lit tables warmed by a lovely open log fire.
The waitress was happy and smiling, I had a glass of red and Elaine had a coke light. For first plate I had a salad, Elaine had a pudding pescado. second plate I had churasco and Elaine had stuffed peppers. For postre we both had a pancake with marmalade. We finished off with a coffee con leche. All of the food was freshly made and well cooked. An excellent meal, it was 8 euros per meal, coffee 1.50 euros extra.
I booked for an evening meal next week.

“Dissapointed”
Reviewed September 23, 2013

As a special treat we visited on a Saturday night. First appearances were excellent and the restaurant is intimate with great character and decoration. Unfortunately the food on that night did not live up to expectations. My quiche starter was burnt and dry. Main course kebab was OK but tough and lacking flavour. Main course steak was insipid and a cheap cut so we left pretty dissapointed. The staff were OK but hadn´t a clue about professional service often the case in Aguilas) After I sent the starter back no one asked if we were ok during the meal or even offered any concern. Won´t be back.

“Charming Restaurant with good food”
Reviewed October 23, 2012

We often eat in this restaurant and it is one of our favourites in Aguilas. In the summer months, you can have your meal on the delightful, attractive terrace and and in the winter months, they have a roaring fire in the restaurant which makes it really cosy and warm, as many of the restaurants in Aguilas do not provide sufficent heating in the winter months. The food is very good and a particular favourite of ours is the duck leg. The crêpes are also good, particularly the banana and chocolate crêpes for dessert. The service is always good and the staff very very friendly and we have recommended it to many of our friends.

“Great menu del dia”
Reviewed July 22, 2012

Four of us had menu del dia here which was excellent - the Spanish starters were incredibly tasty, the mains were simple but excellently prepared and the desserts fantastic. Service was prompt and friendly, restaurant was very modern and clean and toilets excellent. Also open when others were closed and close to the castle. Recommended.
