“Amazing Hosts, Amazing House”
Reviewed November 12, 2011

I stayed here with my family the night before I got married, and I couldn't have imagined a better place, and better hosts for such an important night.
My last breakfast as a single man was so much fun, and Carolyn and Robert made us feel so at home, and were very welcoming when my family kept turning up.
The house is lovely, and the view from the breakfast room is fantastic.
thank you!

What a happy experience! We too were a wedding party that filled the house. Carolyn and Robert could not have been more accommodating. More rugby surrounded by Labradors and other hangers on from the wedding, whose arrival didn't phase Carolyn at all, plus a wonderful breakfast including Prosecco before we all (Carolyn and Robert included) headed off to the wedding. Comfortable rooms, a lovely house and view, made it a home from home for us all. Thanks to you both for making it such a special weekend. Would thoroughly recommend it. John and Jane

A group of 7, we descended on Griesemount House for a wedding at nearby Rathsallagh House. Carolyn was more that accommodating with all our arrangements and even ferried us back up to Rathsallagh so our cars were ready for us at the house the next morning. In the midst of the Rugby World Cup, we'd resigned ourselves to missing the match, but Carolyn and her husband had the match and a cosy fire going at 8.30 in the morning, with tea, coffee, fruit and cereal to keep us going till full time and then followed it up with a fantastic cooked breakfast. Hands down the best experience I've ever had in a B&B in Ireland. Carolyn and Griesemount House would convince you to never go for a big chain hotel again! Magic!!!!

Wow, thank you so much for your very kind words! We were very lucky that the weather was lovely enough for you to have breakfast on the Terrace looking (as we are lucky enough to do everyday!) down to the river and across to the old Mill, as you rightly say "Spectacular!"
Hope that we meet up again, Carolyn

Griesmount House was only a 20 minute drive from our home but we felt as if we had traveled to another world. We loved our stay. My husband and I were welcomed warmly by Carolyn and folded into the hospitality of the house. Roaring fires all to our selves in the plush living room, slices of cake, cups of tea or something stronger if you prefer, the bed pre-warmed, piping hot baths and all around - everywhere you look – beautiful countryside framed by those huge windows. Caroline has created a world where the house and it’s backdrop allow you to pretend to be an Austen character all while the eclectic nature of the décor has you wondering about the history of each item.

The room we stayed in was lovely. The wall-paper, the books, the mirrors. And where else do you get to run across a room and hurl yourself up onto a high four-poster bed? Or, if you’re more sensible – you can use the foot stool.

Griesmount House is the kind of home that makes you feel you should dress for dinner - but Carolyn and Robert make you to feel as if you live there. Their company is entertaining, kind and thoughtful. As a pair of sleep-deprived parents our only plan had been to sleep, and yet we found ourselves debating the state of the nation with our hosts until way past bedtime. That sums up it up really. We’ll most definitely be back.

Room Tip: Ask for the 4 poster bed.

We booked late, out of necessity and didn't know what to expect. The small insurance was that we were selecting from Sawday's guide for Ireland. From our first contact with Carolyn through our unreasonably late arrival (11.30pm which she most graciously agreed to and even offered tea on arrival which we declined), to the quality of the room, to the outstanding breakfast the following morning our expectations were consistently surpassed. This B & B represents all that is best, fun and endearing about staying in a lovely heritage property with furnishings and hospitality to match. Would we stay there again - absolutely.

Having read the previous review on 'Griesemount' by ' trevyrlady '- we were shocked. We have stayed with Carolyn & Robert at Griesemount many times in the past few years and always throughly enjoyed our stay there. Griesemount is a charming authentic period house and hense displays many original feautures including antiques and curious collected from all over the world. The four poster bed we slept in was amazingly comfortable, the electric blankets are a bonous, we had breathtaking views of green pastures and a nearby old mill from our traditional sliding sash windows - where we watched cows grazing, this view could also be seen from the spacious ensuite and the dining room where Carolyns breakfasts are a delight and not to be missed -Freshly squeezed orange juice, free range eggs & homemade jams etc. Carolyn & Robert are great hosts, very helpful & will give you so much of their time Carolyn has some very intresting stories & they have always made us feel very welcome like part of the family. The peace and tranquility is awesome considering how close you are to Dublin city! -frankly we always try to stay there if we are in the vicinity of Dublin /Naas.This place is always very clean and tidy -I dont think the other reviewer understands period houses and maybe next time they should try the Holiday Inn if they want plasma screens and mod cons!
