Meteorologen Ski Lodge has many things going for it. It represents the type of boutique hotel that I really enjoy staying at. It's not just the tasteful decor, comfortable rooms and great food and wine – even if this obviously factors in and makes staying there a sheer pleasure. The real highlight of this small hotel is definitely the staff – always friendly and easygoing yet professional in the service they provide.
Meteorologen Ski Lodge is not for the budget traveler. This place is poised at high-end ski enthusiasts whom are willing travel and pay for an exotic snowbound experience way above the Arctic circle. Located in the legendary ski resort Riksgränsen, just on the border between Norway and Sweden (and relatively near the famous Ice Hotel in Jukkasjärvi) this this is where you'll find awesome off-piste runs and if you have the budget, an abundance of heliskiing. Next to the Meteorologen Ski Lodge is an older and larger hotel with a huge nightclub, great bar, pool and spa area, ski rental stuff and a swanky apparel shop.
I stayed five nights with my family in a family friendly room (4 beds) towards the end of the winter season (lifts run until end of June!) and will definitely return to this exotic paradise.
