In the unlikely event that you find yourself in the area, this is not to be missed, and you can do it cheaply. If you are on a Hurtigruten or other boat, there will be a trip from Honningsval by coach, and you will be stung for a ridiculous amount of money for the three hour trip (£136 on Hurtigruten), but perhaps you just have to do it.

The coach winds through stunning but barren scenery, you may make a stop at a "traditional Sami village", complete with non-strokable reindeer and souvenir shop, before going on to the Cape. Once there you have to pray for good weather.

There's the globe marking the point, a large indoor hall with cafe, large souvenir shop, exhibition, "light hall" and Thai chapel, but the main thing is to have been there.

To note that the climate varies hugely (lots of wind, especially), so dress up warm even in the summer. In the winter vehicles move in snowplough-led convoys, which must be fun!

Nordkapphallen is at Nordkaap. It is a far northern point at the edge of Norway and was the site of a lot of action during WWII. The visitor center is the man-made high point of Nordkaap, though the dramatic cliffs certainly rival it. You pay a fee to enter, and then are free to roam and visit the overview. A theater shows two brief movies, one about the flora and fauna. I was surprised to find a beautiful taxidermy display of local birds in one area and a lot of trolls anywhere you looked. The place is wheelchair accessible with elevators to the multiple underground floors (3 is the theater, 2 has the bathrooms, first floor has a gift shop and panoramic views of the area as well as a restaurant.

We did not see the famous sunset ... it was foggy and raining . Nonetheless it is still worth the trip , to experience that feeling of being at the northern most edge of Europe.

North Cape visitor center (with panoramic views, a cafe, restaurant, post office, souvenir shop, Thai museum (!), a chappel and a "super video cinema" with 3 screens).

You read that this is the northern-most point in Europe but you have been lied to. Actually the northern-most point it a small peninsula just to the west that extends a bit further north. If you want to set foot on that spot, you will have to do it on foot since there is not a road leading to it.

If you want to get a picture of yourself alone next to the "globe" monument, GOOD LUCK! It seems as though no one really cares if your are in their picture and they are in yours. Instead of taking turns, everyone pushes their way up to the "globe" with a "to hell with anyone else" attitude. My advice would be to 1) get there early before the buses arrive, 2) wait for the buses to leave or 3) make your visit in the off-season.
