To experience these giant endangered birds was phenomenal. If you are interested in exotic animals and birds than this is surely a place for you. The tour guide told us there is no guarantee we would see these birds, luckily as soon as we got there we saw many people lined up along the cliff watching about 5 of them sitting on the rocks below. Than about 15 minutes later they began gliding on the air currents, and soon there were 10 to 15 of these magnificent creatures all around us. Amazing they can have a 9m wingspan and can weigh more than 30lbs. Conservation efforts are ongoind and I believe they are partnering with the US State of California to also conserve the California Condor. Overall I would visit again as Colca Canyon is beautiful as well and to see these birds makes the heart happy.

A beautiful viewpoint of Colca Canyon with condor's soaring around the cliff edges. We were lucky enough to see ~15 condors using the currents to fly around and at some points came quite close to use. There's a long path along the area so you can walk around, and there's some people selling drinks. We had to wait about 10 minutes before seeing any condors, but when they did start to fly it made it worth it. It's unfortunate that the number of condors are in decline as they truly are amazing to watch in action.

We were told we might not see much, but on the day we were there quite a number of the Andean Condors were in flight - I think I counted about 15 at one point. Well worth the trip from Arequipa - which itself was an amazing experience with beautiful scenery and lots of opportunities to see llamas, alpacas, vicunas, and even some guanacos in the distance.

Watching the giant but graceful birds soar was breathtaking. At one point there were 20 of them circling and gliding.

Get off the bus at the start of the walk way before the cross. Walk towards the cross and if you are lucky with dry, warm and windy weather the condors will start to float above you. Condor cross itself is a mass of tour groups the walk to the point allows you to appreciate the canyon in peace.
