Sahanlahti is one of the best boating places on the Lake of Saimaa. Unfortunately service has been closed for two years, now in Spring 2014 it will be opened again. This place is located between two lakes Saimaa and inner lake Kaitajärvi continuing as Lohijärvi and is about 20 kilometres long narrow lake. Sahanlahti has its history, old sawmill was here in early 1900th century - as curiosity, I may mention, my grandmother's father worked at the mill and this area is well know to me. Since 1949 when I was here first time as a few week old baby, much has happened - but the nature and its beauty is still the same - best in whole Finland. I recommend to visit the place, and I do hope, the restaurant and other service will be better than those few years back. Nice place to overnight in boat.
