Casa Andina Standard Colca

Rooms are in cottages and are quite comfortable. I had no problem with the temperature, but if you do there is a heater in the room and an extra blanket. The hotel is clean and comfortable, breakfast was typical Casa Andina Classic (good tasting, fresh, and reasonable selection). Hotel supplies 2 soaps, shampoo, no wash cloth. Those who ate there thought the food was good. Be sure to walk to the restaurant that has the dancers. Also visit the hot springs.

These are very cute cottages - but cold at night in May. I do mean pull on the socks and gloves because the little space heater does nothing to warm up the rooms and the bathroom is perpetually cold.
Staff is nice! I got delicious hot chocolate and a bad pizza (for some crazy stupid reason I ordered pizza here ha!) but service was so wonderful.
At night, a woman weaves and sells her products - that's how I got my socks to put on and warm up.
Grounds are beautiful. I was too tired to notice there was an observatory and planetarium so if I should be so lucky as to return, I'll make that part of the activities.

When looking at places to stay in chivay we really couldn't find many places we felt would be good quality and settled with casa andina. As a hotel it was quite pleasant with nice rooms in a well looked after setting with a restaurant etc if you needed it. What made a difference were the little extra touches the staff did like delivering you a hot water bottle for the bed at 9pm! Chivay itself is nothing to write home about, it's a small town and exists primarily to serve the tourists visiting the Colca Canyon. There is little quality choice there for eating out so we ate at the hotel instead. The food was nice and the staff pleasant but watch out for crazy prices on drinks and bottled water!
Overall a good place to stay if you want a bit of quality whilst touring the canyons. The half day trip to Condor Cross / Canyons is well worth it!

The accommodation is in rustic buildings set within pretty garden settings. The rooms are comfortable and spacious, with a heater and plenty of hot water. The big surprise was getting into bed and finding that someone had been in and popped a hot water bottle in it!

The breakfast buffet was good quality with a wide choice of food. We ate one evening meal in the restaurant which was fine but nothing amazing, although the local dancers providing entertainment added a bit of colour to it.

We visited the planetarium and observatory where David (the resident astronomer) showed us some fabulous sights and was well worth the S20.

Loved the little chalets. They're cold but the great turn-down service rectifies that when they deliver wine-bottle hot-water bottles, and switch the heaters on. Helpful reception when our lunches were not ordered and had problems with our bike hire. Best Casa Andina we stayed in throughout Peru.

I stayed here for two nights while visiting Colca Canyon. The room was fairly basic but clean. I found it very cold but when I complained was brought an electric heater very quickly. Recommend to take a hot water bottle, got mine filled very quickly too! Staff very nice and friendly. Walking distance to the town of Chevy which is very colourful with many traditional street markets and street food.

I went here as part of an escorted coach tour. The room was a good size and very clean and comfortable. The shower had plenty of hot water even if the power was a bit weak but at this altitude I thought my hot shower after a day in the sun was fantastic.

The staff were all very helpful but the expected planetarium show that wasn't on when we got there, was soon put back on and I bought my ticket. After dinner in the restaurant which served a nice meal, I found the show was off again but they very quickly gave a refund.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the amazing Colca Canyon.
