All excellent - an ecologist and an excellent cafe with ''to-die-for -food.'' Best Mussel Chowder in New Zealand and i have tasted many in our 2 months! From the 3 sweets that my husband ate instead of savoury food to my incredible adventures into the simple but sooooo tastey main dishes - all of fabulous taste and quality. surrounded by quality New Zealand plants, Monarch butterflies feeding off the passionfruit and a shining cuckoo being fed in the bushes by its hard working grey warbler parent. One of the high points of my whole holiday meeting Halema and Alan and enjoying their company and food.

We opted for a lazy day exploring the island and Cafe Motu had been recommended by both the locals and tripadviser. We stopped in for brunch and the place was buzzing with locals on their weekly visit (and cards game), to heaps of tourists also checking out the place.

We ordered once we could decide what we wanted from all the yummy sounding dishes available, and opted for eggs benedict complimented with an iced coffee and iced chocolate which wasn't on the menu, but they made one for us anyway.

The drinks were lovely with condensed milk drizzled around the coffee glass and were served by very friendly staff, and when the meal arrived we were glad we decided to share a meal between two of us as it was easily enough for both of us. The bright yellow yokes indiated they were freerange eggs and the mint garnish was so fresh it even had a catapillar living on it, which was quickly reunited with the living plants outside.

The atmosphere was relaxed and the food exellent, and we will definately be going back next time we visit the island.

This little plave is in the middle of a rather dry area, and was a delight to find. Particularly recommend the iced coffee, although the milkshakes were godd as well. Relaxed atmosphere and good food.

It was nice to suddenly come across the cafe. Nothing else in the area like it. It made a nice pleasant stop to have a rest a coffee and bun.
