I stayed at Dunlop Lake Lodge a couple of weekends ago for 3 nights and I had a wonderful experience there.

The setting is absolutely stunning, very peaceful and picturesque.

Our room was clean (I'm very surprised to read some of the comments to the contrary) and spacious, and I found all the staff to be very helpful and welcoming, particularly the owner(?) Jane.
They even organized an unforgettable and exhilarating ATV tour for us.

The food is what really stood out for me.....lots of options ranging from hearty burgers, to imaginative salads that pleased even a picky eater like myself.

The only complaint I had over the whole weekend was the weather....I hope that it's better the next time I visit DLL.

Stayed in Elliot Lake on my way to Sault Ste. Marie and had to stay at Dunlop Lodge because the Hampton Inn was full. Quite frankly I'm disappointed by these other reviews because I had a wonderful stay. I had a delicious dinner when I arrived; the roasted red pepper soup was fantastic. My room was complete with a satellite dish and movie channels and I had a breathtaking view overlooking the lake. It was fantastic. The owner was even gracious enough to wake up at 5:30am to make me breakfast before I left. I will definitely be staying there again in a few days on my way home. Cheers!

I escaped the city for a wedding at Dunlop Lake Lodge and it was breathtaking! The staff was warm and welcoming. They treated us like family. The food was outstanding both during the reception and the days before and after the wedding. The grounds by the lakeside were picturesque, I was very impressed with the upkeep of the grounds and attention to detail during the ceremony. They could use better docks for boating access to the lake, but it did not impact our plans. The accommodations were comfortable and well-appointed, I felt like I was staying in a country home with friendly people and not a worry in the world. I would wholeheartedly recommend this venue for any bride - especially ones looking for a warm country feel with all the amenities of the big city. I understand there were major renovations this year. We attended post-renos, everything was finished and I was impressed. I will definitely return for a family vacation soon!!

Went to Dunlop Lake Lodge for a August wedding, stunning views and awsome food. Even though their renovations were temporarily delayed due to the mall collapse, they did an amazing job getting the lodge ready for the wedding. The staff went over and above to make everyones stay enjoyable, and the renovations that they have done so far are phenomenal. The outside still needs to be done, but when they start on that i'm sure it will also be an awsome job. It's been a long time since i've stayed in a room where you couldn't hear the next room or the people in the hall. Not only are the rooms quiet, but big and spacious-only thing they needed to finish in our room was the curtains, but we made do. What more do you want when you're mostly outside taking in the breathtaking views. I would definitely recomend this place for a quiet getaway. Their apartment was huge, great idea for a group of people.

I just recently got married at Dunlop Lake Lodge. When I visited in March & May as we aren't from the area we were promised quite a bit, it would be all renovated, everything would get taken care of, but of course it was not. The outside of the building looked terrible. I was waiting for my quote from February til July, finally got it 2 weeks before the wedding. Jane is a very nice and sincere lady, but completely unorganized/overwhelmed. I would never recommend them for weddings. As the bride, the last thing on my mind is checking in my guests, getting them settled, finding the housekeeper to see if the rooms are clean (which they weren't, and the cabin was full of mice). My guests wanted to leave and go to stay at the Hampton. Everything that was left up to Dunlop was terrible, ordered the wrong chairs, served seafood (when they were told I'm deadly allergic and not to have any at all all day), rehearsal dinner was wrong, there was no booze on the head table for the first toast (we had to chase them down)... it was honestly a disaster, the only good thing was the food, I have to give them that, and the grounds by the lake were beautiful. But in the end It was bad enough to make me write this bad review so that future brides are aware of what they will have to deal with.

Room Tip: Don't stay in the cabin.. the honeymoon suite might be nice once its renovated, but for now its...

We just came back from Dunlop Lake Lodge. We visited after the mall & hotel collapse in Elliot Lake and everything in the area was booked solid. However, even tho they were under major renovations we were shown our rooms (very large) and all around the grounds. Great food and beautiful sunsets all 3 days made this a great anniversary gettaway for my husband and myself. We recommend this place highly for any outdoor enthusiasts. B & H Couhulan-July 18/2012.

Room Tip: Ask for the deluxe suite. Not much more money but you get a kitchenette & freezer with it.
