“best place to stay in Blind River”
Reviewed November 13, 2009

We had originally booked into another motel in blind River but on inspection found it was not suitable. We went to the Lakeview and found it to be spotless. The managers and staff were very friendly. There is also a restaurant with excellent food and reasonable prices. I found there are not a lot of updated motels between South Bay Mouth and Ste Sault Marie this is by far the best. Be sure to book ahead they are often full.

My first stop after leaving Toronto to Alberta. Tried to reach Sault Ste Marie but it was really dark and we were really tired so we stopped short in Blind River.

The Lakeview Inn is right off the 17 west so it's convenient. The outside is nice and clean, however it was dark. Service was standard and prompt. The Inn was pretty full so we stayed in a double bed room, standard layout... nothing special. The room had a faint odour of staleness and the beds are rock hard. Best thing is the wifi access and location I would say.

All in all a good stop for a night travelling the 17.

Clean, wide parking, nice room, good beds. An awesome storm door, enough windows to get a cross breeze. Well maintained. Friendly staff.
Nice towels, firm beds, nice bedding.

Basically feel like you're staying at a relatively upscale hotel (doubletree, country inn), only as a motel.

This is really the best place to stay on the North Shore of Lake Huron. I stayed here for 4 weeks in 2007 and several more in 2006. It is the favoured motel for government workers to stay and was refered to this place by coworkers. The rooms have been completely renovated as was the outside too. Since I have stayed there so much, I have gotten to talk with the owners very much. The owner really takes pride in the motel and it shows. He feels that the key to his business is taking good care of the patrons and they will both return again and tell others; so I am telling you.

The beds are great, the rooms are spotless and always kept up, the work desk has lots of room, good cable TV, there is a fridge in the room, lots of parking, and a real pleasant atmosphere. The staff are really friendly and the restaurant is really good too. The areas of staff hospitality is best part of the place as they really try to make you feel at home and take care you. They are even one of the few places that explain about how they even wash the comforters on a weekly basis.

My only complaint would be that the place is not on the water, but across the street; the beach is a little far away too. The owner would do well by adding a pool and hottub.

Overall though, if you are passing thru the area or working here, it is the best place between Sudbury and the Sault to stay.

  • Liked — WiFi thru out, cleanliness, staff hospitality
  • Disliked — No pool or beach
