Re-visited the Anglers rest with my parents and family during our annual family holiday. Opted to book for pie night on Thursday evening. Food again was brilliant, the adults all had steak and ale pie with chips and veg, my older son had Haddock and chips and the youngest had goujons and chips with beans. The pie was lovely, home cooked and very good value at £9.95 including a pudding. There was plenty to choose from including treacle sponge, jam rolypoly, chocolate sponge, ice cream etc. The six empty plates at the end said it all. Fine dining it isn't and if that's what you are after this isn't the place for you, it's not a posh restaurant! It is a very old fashioned little pub, but it is clean and very friendly. The bar staff were all very friendly and the landlady Beryl is very nice... Not rude as other reviews have said. Drinks were all reasonably priced and my husband enjoyed the summer blond beers on offer( and the price...so much cheaper than at home)
we always visit the pub on holiday and have always enjoyed it!

Very good ales, the pub has won the Sheffield and district CAMRA pub of the year 2011, 2012 and 2013. The food we had was not bad but welcome half way through a walk.

The pub seems to lack a garden, despite have an extensive river frontage used for car-parking- why not have a nice terrace there?

We stopped here for a quick pint whilst walking the Monsal Trail a few weeks ago. Although we didn't eat here we were very impressed with the quality of drinks! We ended up staying slightly longer than we had planned, but it was definitely worth it. The staff were very friendly and we were served promptly. It was a very hot day so we sat outside, there was limited seating, but we were grateful of a sit down none-the-less.

Only called in for a drink but was struck by how friendly the landlady was. Like that there are two bars one of which positively welcomes people with walking boots and dogs.
