Had a really good meal with friends in the Oyster Smack yesterday. Great little restaurant in Burnham, nice decor, welcoming staff and not very busy on the day that we visited.
Menu looked interesting and there were some good looking 'specials' on the board too. Whilst deciding we had some pork crackling with warm apple sauce-really good although we did worry about our teeth.
Scallops for the first course, meat platter and battered prawns too (between us...not all for me) all of which were well received and plates cleaned. Main courses were very successful including the cod loin, tempurs battered fish with noodles and I had a really good steak that was well cooked (medium/rare). Accompanied by a nice bottle of Prosecco it all went down really well. We even had space for a sharing platter of choc mousse, sticky toffee pudding, ice cream and honey comb and apple crumble and custard (really shouldn't have had it but we did!). Add to that coffees and handmade chocolate truffles and it was a great lunch.
Our friends eat there a lot, as they are local and say that they have never had a bad meal there, which is a good recommendation. Would definitely go there again.

What a fantastic meal , chose off the special boards and am glad we did, the sticky pork with mango salad was to die for, then the roast cod on braised potato and creamed leeks and bacon was perfection, well done and keep up the good work Trevor

Nice restaurant with bedrooms. Good food a lot of fish on menu. Beautifully cooked. There was a limited wine choice mainly French. Web site stated served real ales- they only had one on draught. Nice bedrooms - we were given a room in courtyard as when booking were told that restaurant could get noisy. Only problem was children in family room next door woke us very early.

Always best to book at peak times and food quality is always up there at the top. My favourite is the slow roasted belly of pork complete with real crackling. Salted caramel ice cream is to die for

After a couple of hours car journey from landlocked west London we were looking forward to some saltier air and a seafood lunch at The Oyster Smack Inn - and we weren't disappointed. We had the wherrey battered haddock - good ol' fashioned fish and chips essentially - and it was excellent.

Good fish, very nicely cooked and well served. But more than anything else I found the (all male) staff a very decent bunch of blokes from James - the Maitre D' - to the bar and waiting staff. Friendly, helpful, no airs and graces, down-to-earth blokes that were keen to please: it made a very welcome change.

The environment is pleasingly decorated, toilets clean and tastefully kitted-out, just enough parking.....A very decent venue for a commensurately satisfactory saturday lunch. Plus, they very endearingly served us some amuse-geules battered whitebait without any solicitation on our part (since we weren't keen on the devilled version on the menu). All done without fuss. They even had a decently priced Viognier on the menu. Good.

All they need is to get their more than able chef to muster some good british puddings and bake some in-house bread and this would become a "destination diner" for us ..... Overall: well done and...you...as the punter "can't go wrong".
