“Nice place to stay and to be”
Reviewed December 21, 2011

Charming, little place in a hidden Sidi Ifni neighbourhood! We stayed at Patrick's for two days in mid-December 2011 and liked the laid-back atmosphere of Maison Xanadu. The rooms are nicely decorated and functional, the attached bath room clean and spacious. We had our breakfast on the roof-side terrace and enjoyed listening to the birds and the sound of awakening Ifni. Patrick is a wonderful host, who is helpful with recommendations, the dinner Said prepared for us in the open kitchen was among the best we had in two weeks in Southern Morocco. Go for it, I rather would have stayed there then returning home:)

Patrick, Sandrine & Paul (their 9 y old son) warmly welcomed us (couple and 3 y old child) in this elegant riad (5 guest rooms and private quarters) in the centre of surprisingly charming Sidi Ifni. Said's a great co-host and cook and Fatima provides a superb French-Moroccan breakfast every morning after a good night's sleep in a good bed.
Respect for the local economy and integration into the social context are guiding principles for Patrick & c°, who live in Xanadu on a permanent basis. We loved this spot and its owners & staff for what they did and how they keep on doing it. Respect!

Patrick the owner immediately makes you feel very welcome in this small riad off the main street in Sidi Ifni, about 5 or 10 minutes walk to the beach. Rooms are modern, brightly painted, very clean and spacious. As they all have windows onto the inner courtyard, the rooms can be a bit noisy at times, especially the two on the ground floor, but other guests are generally mindful of this.

A good breakfast including freshly made flatbreads, yoghurt, freshly squeezed juice and fresh fruit is prepared and served at a communal table on the rooftop terrace, by the charming Fatima. Dinner is available and made to order provided you give enough notice. Food is very well prepared and presented by Said. The cost of a 3 course meal including mineral water is 15 euros or equivalent. Dinner is served at the communal table in the dining room and is a very social occasion.

The sitting room has piles of books and magazines, CD's and free internet.

Patrick provides all sorts of local information on walks, outings, eating and drinking options etc . He will also arrange private taxi hire at very good rates (eg full day hire 50 euros for up to 6 passengers). Ask for Mohammed. A very friendly genuine guy who is also a very careful grand taxi driver (a bit of a rareity in Morocco!)

There are other hotels in town in better locations especially if you want beach/sea views, but none seem to be as friendly or as comfortable as the Xanadu.

Small B&B in Riad style, run by a very friendly host Patrick (from Paris) and his wife (who was away during our vist). Good value at €50 per night for the two of us. Clean, fresh, good breakfast.

Highly recommended.

Loved the town, too. Very relaxed place.

There aren't many appealing options in this curious town and this may be the best of them. Clean, attractive rooms, pleasant roof terrace, charming French hosts, very reasonable prices, but the central courtyard layout does mean that sound carries through the building.
