What a "find", although being a native stoney lass...never been until today! Fabulous lobster and mussels ...will definitely be back. Pricy but well worth it and it was full for lunch on a lovely sunny stoney day...great service and not rushed.

I went there with my wife to celebrate a special occasion. She is found of seafood so we needed a place with more choice than just battered/fried fishes. This place did it totally!

A wide range of product are sourced locally and the menu can depend on the latest arrivals.
Although the mussels were not on the menu, the staff and chef managed to serve us a nice portion for starter. We then had langoustine and sole, everything was a delight. You could see and taste the preparation behind every dish. It was all so good, and these tastes are so difficult to find that instead of a traditional dessert we ordered ... another portion of mussels each !
The wine list has enough choice to satisfy a wide range of taste. As with many restaurants, that's were the biggest hit to the bill will come from. The food is reasonably priced though and of so good value that we forget the blow of the wine.
Service was very pleasant and full of attention, without being pushy, which is nice.

Overall a very nice experience if you want to enjoy fish or seafood. We'll go there again.

Came here for Sunday lunch. The food was great. Had mussels for starter, salmon for main and brûlée for desert. My partner had the lobster for main. We really enjoyed the food, and the view over the harbour is nice. The service of the staff was good.
We would go back again. Lovely fudge with coffee.

Went to The Tolbooth for the first time for lunch. Food was excellent. Set meal was good value and you could mix and match between the set meal and a la carte menu which was a good idea. We had a starter off the set menu and main course from the a la carte. Halibut was beautifully cooked and well presented. Staff were good without being over attentive. The fudge that came with the coffee was delicious and I class myself as a good judge of fudge! Will certainly go back.

The superb food, simple decor and the attentive owners, make this place a very pleasant eatery. The choice and presentation are very good. Lovely harbour views. The crab, crayfish and prawn are from local boats, whilst the fresh fish is from Aberdeen. The chef knows his stuff when it comes to producing interesting flavours and I am sure that if you are a lover of seafood you won't be disappointed. The lunch menu is available at 2 items or 3, under twenty pounds, which is good value given that the food is of such a high quality.
