Review of Tolbooth Museum

This small museum is packed with bits and pieces of the history and daily living of the area. If you know what to look for and what is significant it can take you a while to go through. Otherwise a 10 minute browse will do. If you have ever wondered what it would have been like to live in a small town on the North Coast of England then this museum could help you imagine it.

There is a video of the Fireball event held on New Years Eve. We all can't be here at that time but it is nice to see what it is like.

The staff is lively and kind. They even started to dance a bit when some Scottish music came on.

Drop a few pounds in the donation box on the way out!

My friends and I went on a day trip to Stonehaven and we had an amazing experience starting with this great little museum. :) The owner was very friendly, knowledgeable and we left the museum with even a better mood.

I went a long time ago when I first moved here a handful of people in Stonehave fought to keep the place open recently and keep and man it of their own accord. It gives you a great insight of the history of Stonehaven and also bring you up to date well worth a visit to not only learn a bit about Stonhavens past but also to show those who Volunteer that it was worth while

This museum is a small (one room) arrangement of items and curiosities from different periods and disciplines related, in some way, to life in Stonehaven in the past.
At one point the building was a jail, and you can still see one of the barred cells.

It's run by volunteers and has free entry (donation is expected).

If you're visiting Stonehaven, the Tolbooth is worth popping into.
