A great Museum based at the harbour hardworking and very friendly Staff plenty to look at and the words remember when are mentioned.
No fee to get in but would have paid. The more that go in the more people will see what life was like. Interesting for young and old.

Out to Dunnottar Castle on saturday 18th August in glorious sunshine with my wonderful neice and nephew from Kent and visited Stonehaven harbour area and stopped for a walk and visited the excellent display at the Stonehaven Toolbooth Museum at the harbour . Wonderful and helpful staff on site and very interested to speak to the visitors with feedback on their museum. I was also very interested in the photos of the Kincardineshire Constabulary that later became in 1949 Scottish police mergers the Scottish North Eastern Counties Constabulary (SNECC ) that in 1975 became Grampian Police .. Also interesting info on the original use of the Toolbooth premises as a prison for Scottish Episcopal church ministers who baptised their congregation from the prison bars . Interesting also on the maritime photos too in the museum .

well recommended Museum ... ideal location to visit on a sunny warm day or even a wet day . Ground floor location

I visited the Tolbooth Museum with my husband and children in April. It is situated right at the harbour in the town's oldest building and hides so many fascinating, hands on, exhibits of local and general interest. The guides were so welcoming and kindly interacted with my two lively children who both loved investigating the old jail cell and completing the quiz sheet. A fine experience for us all.
