Whenever we visit Stonehaven we have to go to Aunty Bettys - amazing ice creams - that even those of us with the toughest will power will succumb to. Excellent value for money - not only scoops of ice cream but 'sweeties' added on at no extra cost. Often there are queues but it is worth the wait.

What a great sweet, cake and ice cream shop (you can also get coffee and tea too). But ice cream is the thing. You get a large cone with ice cream and all the works....very good value. On a sunny day you might have to queue for sometime but well worth it. A must try and visit on your trip to Stonehaven and right next to the best fish and chip shop too.

Great portion sizes. Lovely shop with lots of sweets, cakes and even pet goodies to look at and buy. The wait is longish but it's worth it because the ice cream is so good.

This place is definitely a must visit if you are in the vicinity and fancy a fancy ice-cream.
They have a beautiful shop in an excellent location, just next to an also very crowded fish and chip shop and make very appealing ice-creams. A recipe for success.
They serve large cones with a broad selection of flavours and add many colourful toppings. They genuinely look fabulous... but actually...

I my humble opinion the flavours and the quality of the icecream are not great at all (and I have been a few times and tasted several different ones here and in many other places all over the world really), it's actually on the low side of average. And on top of that, every time I've been, the ice-cream was melting and dripping all over the place even before I left the shop. It simply isn't cold enough, it's served at melting point.

So yes. It's a must visit. The ice-creams are amazing to look at. You will want one the minute you see people walking past you with one, but there is plenty PLENTY room for improvement (and I hope to see, taste and experience that improvement).

Looks - YES! Mind blowing!
Flavour - BELOW AVERAGE
Over all quality - LOW SIDE OF AVERAGE

Visited lunch time today. I had been a couple of times previously during the summer. Queue was much more manageable today.
£3.50 for a couple of scoops of ice cream may seem somewhat pricey for the area: more like a rip off Devon / Cornwall resort at height of August. But imho Aunty Betty's is true value for money. The ice cream is wonderful; the scoops are large and flakes, cinnamon sticks, sweets, sauces and other toppings are at no extra charge.
The shop is small and the queue can be large but service is always with a smile.
Well worth a visit if you are in the area: even a trip down from Aberdeen is time and money well spent.
