This is our favourite place to eat in Stonehaven - a simply-decorated building literally on the sea-wall in Stonehaven, with breakers crashing feet from the windows. We've eaten there with the sun beating down on a sparkling blue ocean, and in a force 8 gale with 10ft waves threatening to break over the windows, and every weather in between.
It serves great coffee, and cakes to die for (in fact if you ate a whole portion you would be measurably closer to a heart attack, but happier for it...), but the stand-out food is the brunch menu. Locally-smoked haddock in various guises (cullen skink soup, with poached eggs, along with eggs benedict), great paninis, a different kind of fishcake every week, and spectacular bacon, egg and black pudding rolls. The risotto is great as well, and although I've not tried them the burgers look pretty fine also.
Service is always very friendly no matter how busy they are, and they are very accommodating of children with high chairs available. There are tables and chairs outside.
