This hotel was spectacular. Everything was fantastic. The food, beach, rooms, and kiko's team were all amazing. I had the time of my life! Everyone was really friendly which made my stay a lot better. I really loved kiko's team. They all participated in the activities and truthfully that was the main reason for all the memories during my day. I will definitely be back next year. The team really went out of their way to participate in every activity made this vacation amazing. I would really like to thank zapata for the hard work he put in everyday! asparina, kaky, and lima really made this memorable. Alexis was a great DJ and what he did for the shows was incredible. Thank you so much.

11 people travelled from 13 year old to 75 years old, the review will give you an overview from a family perspective, teenagers, couples, senior, 11 family members travelled. I read many reviews before choosing this resort, hope this helps to make your decision.

This is a3 star resort, so everything is average, people expect so much out of a 3 star, the set up and grounds are fantastic. The walk to the village is very nice people are friendly, once you say thank you Gracias they don't bother you. Not much in town. As you walk to town you will be approached by Jose, he claims to have a ranch tall guy, stay away from him from horse back riding to National park, he can sell you anything, we had a bad experience.

Good things... Quiet resort no motor sports and noisy ski doos, nice pools, beach is fantastic.

Bad things... Do not buy any excursions from the local guys, go through your tour guide, you can save money by buying the excursion in town from a travel agent called Augusto, you cant miss his shop, very small single street town Las Galerras he is better then others.Do not pay for snorkelling at the hotel, its a big big joke, as you stand on the beach on the right you will see a marked area, the hotel or some private guy has made an enclosure and trapped the fish with a large net in one confinement, they call it the natural aquarium, he will take you on 1 minute boat ride and once you're ready with your snorkels he will feed the fish, not a good experience at all.

Remember this is a nice average 3star resort, food is good, average, the A la carte restaurant is the same as the snack bar during the day, poor service, no ambiance

Room Tip: If you want to be near the restaurant 1000 block and 2000 are near, newer rooms are 7000 and 8000 bl...

Perhaps I've been spoiled in the past, but the Grand Paradise Samana leaves little to be desired. This resort has a lot of potential, but the management doesn't invest their love into the property.

All-Inclusive?
If you're hoping for an all inclusive, be prepared for some extra costs once you arrive:
- Guests MUST pay $15 to use the room safe
- Guests wishing to dine in the nicer restaurant must pay $30-100pp (if you want lobster/champaign)
- Mini-fridge in each room is stocked with 2 bottles of water, 1 bottle of coke, and 1 bottle of sprite per day. You are not permitted to have more. I asked the room maid for additional drinks and she said no. I offered to pay and she said the drinks were included and would not take my money. After speaking with the front desk, they advised the rule was 4 bottled drinks per room per day. No exceptions.

Rooms
- Bring your own towels. The towels provided are several years old, ratty, and stained.
- Beds are surprisingly comfortable and clean
- Mini-fridge was old and rusted
- Don't upgrade to the Ocean View room. You'll be starring at less than 20% of ocean through palm trees
- No room services available (i.e. no food or drink deliveries)

Food
The food is average. No one in our party became ill, and we tried everything at least once. Food is only available at the main buffet restaurant, and the 2 a-la-cart restaurants. No food available at the beach or near the pools. Buffet is open only during certain hours, 3 times a day.
Outdoor Pools
For the entire week I was there, the pools were cleaned once every other day. Plenty of bugs, grass and leaves were floating in the pools. If you want to get wet, head over to the ocean. Seemed cleaner.

Beach
- The beaches contained white sand and very clear water
- Too much seaweed washed up on the beach sand and the sand was barely cleaned by crews
- For fun, bring some bread out into the ocean and watch dozens of large fish come to your side!
- Beaches are public, which means people off the street (non-resort) will be sharing the beach with you. This also means you'll be bothered by locals trying to sell you things every 15mins
- Lots of extra activities to do including volleyball, archery, water aerobics, yoga, kayaking, scuba, and snorkelling
- Plenty of chairs available, no umbrellas (only palm tree shade)
- Beach towels are nicer than the room towels

Drinks
- Local beer is okay
- All mixed drinks are very watered down
- Local coffee is very good

Entertainment
Evening shows were fun and the employees did their best to ensure everyone was having a good night. Kudos to the entertainment team!

Staff
- HUGE thank you to Amaradi and Mike at the front desk. They were the friendliest and happiest employees at the resort. Always smiling and ready to assist whenever required.
- However, Jose at the front desk wasn't as friendly and could be rude sometimes.

Visiting the local town called Las Galeras
As you leave the resort to visit Las Galeras by foot along the path, you'll encounter a few locals selling their merchandise. The first guy you'll run into set up his 'shop' on the beach, attaching his merchandise to a tree. He's very friendly and extremely talented. He'll carve you a dolphin out of tree bark.

As you continue your stroll along the path to Las Galeras, you'll bump into another guy selling merchandise and paintings. His name is Raphael. Tell him Jeff from Canada sent you and he'll take care of you and give you the best price. He is the nicest guy on the beach. A heart of gold, a good head on his shoulders, and an interesting guy to sit down and have a chat with. If you have the chance, do it. You wont be sorry.

Following the trail, skip the guy at the corner before you head into the town. His name is Cheapy-Cheapy something. He's a pushy sales guy...and never take is first, second, or third offer. You can talk him down to about 1/3 of his original price. Once you leave his little stall, head into the town and enjoy what the locals have to offer. Maybe 5 minutes down the road on the left, you'll run into a different guy and his shop. He might be wearing a Toronto Blue Jay's baseball cap and a Toronto Maple Leads t-shirt. Stop by and say hello to him. His name is Cheapy-Cheapy Tony. He's nice, not pushy, and pretty funny. Let him know Jeff from Canada sent you and he'll give you a good deal too.

Room Tip: Do not pay for an upgrade to the 'Ocean View' rooms. All 'Ocean View' rooms are bloc...

The destination is perfect on its own but the activities hosted throught out the day make the experience that much better . Morning work outs, volley ball, aerobics, dance shows/theatre performances, kayaking, snorkelling, horse back riding and so much more fill your day with the perfect vacation experience. The staff is also not just perfect but go out of their way to make sure that your having an amazing time by hosting and playing beach games joining you for meals pulling you on stage to be apart of their performance breaking the ice at the disco they are just amazing some of the staff members that really made my grad paradise experience perfect include Zapata, Asparina, Kaky, Lima, Jose, Ruth, nelly yuki, Rudy, and Alexis every visitor loves their company and they complete the perfect vacation.

Everything was great. The hotel was very nice and clean. I felt very comfortable there. The staff was very friendly. Especially a staff member named Wilfredo. He was very helpful with all my concerns. We went toThe restaurant sea scape it was nice but the service took long. We waited a long time for our food. But it was still good. Other wise my trip was great.
