Great place in nature away from the noise and distractions overlooking the atlantic ocean. Can Camp here or take a hammock. Good food and company on the cliff top restaurant. Highly recommended.

“If Anthony Bourdain has been there its worth a trip!”
Reviewed February 25, 2013

Our 2nd trip to the Dominican Republic has been nothing short of pure enjoyment! Our first trip 4 years ago was an all inclusive in Punta Cana. We came back to experience what The DR is really about. Months ago we watched and saved an episode of Anthony Bourdain getting around and experiencing how down to earth and real this culture and their food is. In the episode, which we watched 3 times ,before our return, we promised to visit this wonderful location for a bite to eat and one amazing look at the coastline in Las Galeras. This was a very memorable day trip. And we'll worth it if you truly love the sun, the ocean and dining in the true essence of enjoying and lingering over a beverage and a fine meal. The blowhole from the ocean makes a spectacular sound. The restaurant is architecture few could believe was even possible. CLOSED ON SATURDAYS. Make a reservation if you would like them to snag a lobster for you. This could possibly be one of the most memorable days of our lives. The road is a bumpy challenge but we made it in a compact rental car and we would not hesitate to do it all over again!

“A hidden oasis”
Reviewed February 25, 2013

This place it totally off the beaten path in Las Galeras. You must have reservations and they will send their own chauffeur in town to pick you up. It seemed like they only had one seating per night, which was 6:00pm, right at sunset! The view is breathtaking! Go hungry because the portions are quite large. We started with the tomato and cheese salad, which was amazing and fresh. Then we both ordered the fish of the day and received 2 huge whole grouper accompanied by local veggies. My only complaint is that it took awhile to get a beverage and the bathroom was hard to find and a little scary (ladies, don't wear heels).
All in all, dinning at El Cabito was one of the best things we did on our trip! We should have gone back a second night!!

“Spectacular location”
Reviewed February 23, 2013

It's worth the trip for the location, perched above the crashing sea and with sweeping views of the coastline. We found the food to be average.

“Must see beauty! Kid friendly.”
Reviewed February 23, 2013

This place requires a reservation and is a little off the beaten path but worth it! The views are incredible and the food is delicous. We came with a four year old and the owner put us at a table near a hammock so she could fall asleep after dinner. The dining experince is very traditional european. We started at 5 and the meal didn't wrap up until close to 8. The food is slow. But, the manager brought toys and plates of food for our little one to snack on while we waited in between courses. That said, ours is very used to restaurants. If you have a child who couldn't hang out in a restaurant for 3 hours without fussing I would get a sitter. But, ours loved the experince and we were glad to have brought her. And the whole point of a meal at a place like el cabito is to enjoy the views and the good food so we didn't want a rushed meal. I highly reccomend ordering a bottle of wine or two that way you don't have to wait on your drinks. We were also suprised at the price. It really wasn't much more expensive than the street restaurants in downtown las galeras. But the quality and atmosphere are unbeatable. It's a must!
