As part of a driving tour, we broke our journey at Cluanie, staying for two nights (18 people in total) Andy and Monique looked after us all, with good food and their fantastic collection of single malts. The rooms were all very well decorated and recently refurbished, with super comfortable memory foam beds. If you're looking for a welcoming Inn, Cluanie fits the bill.

I have not stayed here - this review is re the restaurant. This hotel is situated where many drivers pass on their way to and from Skye, so it is a natural place to stop for a coffee. Unfortunately, they have missed the chance to give a quality service and create a good impression for people who may have returned on the way back. Any restaurant which advertises "Scone with cream and jam", then serves cream from an aerosol can is doing its customers a disservice. I would doubt if anyone likes that kind of cream with a scone. Customers expect clotted cream or at least whipped real cream. How about having some good Scots home baking with quality ingredients?

Stayed here for three nights hillwalking. Magnificent location at the top of Glenshiel with challenging walks in all directions. Cheerful friendly service. Comfortable, well kitted out rooms. Good choice of real ales. Good solid meals and excellent breakfast. Very enjoyable stay - couldn't ask for better.

Another great stay at this superb inn in this great location. First class breakfast and superb meals in restaurant. Made to feel very welcome by helpful and attentive staff and owners Andy and Monique, who have been working hard again since last years visit (well done) and thankyou for everything. Look forward to next stay. Miss you Mitchel zander and Bambi.

We stayed as a group in the clubhouse, which is in fact the petrol forecourt building converted into accommodation. It was comfortable, and ideal for our needs as a walking group, but the plumbing left a lot to be desired with a shower that could not contain the water and what appeared to be a waste leak coming up in the middle of the carpet. Food was quite good, hearty pub grub with a local theme, but not worth an outing to sample. We were irritated on the second evening (a Sunday) to be told there was no real ale and had to have keg beer only to find 30 minutes later that there were now 2 available. Unfortunately, this typified the service, polite, but quite frankly, poor. When ordering supper, with only 14 covers in the Resturant, we were told there would be a delay because the kitchen was stressed!

Those requiring internet connectivity should note that the Cluanie charges £5 for 30 minutes WiFi (because they use a Satellite link); rather expensive! Fortunately my phone provider managed a 2G connection - slow but adequate.

This Inn is ideally located for walkers in this stunning part of Scotland, but I get the strong impression that it is not well managed and could, with a little bit of effort, be far better. We were disappointed.

We spent two nights here and loved it. We had room 1 which had a four poster bed, a jacuzzi bathroom and a sauna in the bedroom, EVERY room should have a sauna in it! We had planned to go hillwalking but the weather gods were not very kind to us so we had a couple of day trips in the local area before heading back for a sauna and a jacuzzi before dinner. Brilliant way to relax. food in the bar was wholesome and good value and the well stocked bar was manned by friendly staff. Great place, excellent value for money and we will be back!
