“Best BnB stay to date!”
Reviewed March 18, 2014

Me and my boyfriend stayed here for a night last week en route to the isle of Skye. We turned up late (11ish) and Sheila was brilliant - so warm and welcome despite having to stay up late to let us in. The room was incredible, huge and well decorated, clean and warm. The bed was massive and so incredibly comfy - I'll be investing in a memory foam mattress now as a result. bathroom was enormous too (though the shower was a bit temperamental). We stayed for breakfast the next morning which was delicious! Sheila is a fantastic cook and served up the best scrambled eggs and smoked salmon, in addition to plying us with porridge, cute little pastries and the best of all, her family's own home made honey. Not to be rude to everywhere else we stayed in, but this place was by far the best and almost ruined all the other BnBs we stayed in! If you're looking for places nearby, YOU MUST STAY HERE! It's wonderful, and I would absolutely go back back.

Room Tip: We had a room on the front of the house which had amazing views, despite the typically wet Scottish...

I highly recommend staying in this stunning location.

We stayed at Binnilidh Mhor in early January and were warmly welcomed by Sheila the host and a well stoked fire. Sheila couldn't have made us feel more at home. The bedrooms are fully equipped with all you could need, the king size bed was very comfortable, the bathroom and shower were great and breakfast was delicious and thoughtfully prepared.

We chose this B&B mainly because its remoteness and its location between Inverness and Ilse of Skye.

We were welcomed by the lovely hostess of this B&B. She showed us around the living room and bedroom. She even took time to patiently explain the facilities, which was much appreciated. The living room was nice and cozy, especially with the fire place to keep the whole room nicely warm.

We went out at night and looked up in the night sky. What we saw was astonishing.....countless number of stars which normally wouldn't be visible at all. We were lucky that the sky was clear. Because of its remoteness, there was little to no light pollution, that is why the stars were so visible.

The morning breakfast was prepared at the time we have requested for and it was nice.

Just before we left, we asked for bikes so we can explore a bit. We cycled around but didn't manage to go far because we were not well equipped for the cold.

I would defintely consider staying here again.

Thanks

It's so important with a B and B to find the right balance of attentive owners without it being too intimate and it was perfect here...we met the friendliest couple we'd come across when using B and Bs. Should be 5*. They really have thought of everything and can't do enough for you. The whole experience was enjoyable...quiet and beautiful location, lots of wildlife around, lovely breakfast with good selection. Separate lounge to use with tv. DVDs, games and books to use. Ample parking. In the room: fridge (SILENT) with chilled water provided, gadget for boiling water (brilliant), hot chocolate and Ovaltine amongst drinks on offer along with biscuits. Loads of room for clothes and suitcase, iron provided, well lit, plenty of mirrors and plug sockets (good for doing make-up and hair drying). Window in bathroom, bath and separate shower cubicle and toiletries provided. If you've travelled to this location you won't be expecting a shop or restaurant just round the corner...it's for exploring! Nevertheless, they also offer evening meals. Don't hesitate to book this place :)

We booked two rooms; one twin and one double room at the B&B. Both rooms had been recently refurbished and were very spacious, as was the common lounge. The décor of the rooms and bathroom was very tasteful and we immediately warmed to the place. The rooms were equipped with modern automatic kettle, large size plasma TV, ironing board and there was an ample selection of hot drinks to choose from. It was also very thoughtful of our hosts Sheila and Alan that they had ensured that the fridge contained drinking water and fresh milk for tea and coffee.
We did not pre-order any dinner at the B&B, but our host gave us a very good dining-out tip: this was “The Lovat”, a hotel restaurant in Fort Augustus, where both the food and service were excellent.
The breakfast at the B&B was superb and of generous proportions. Besides the usual choices of continental and cooked breakfast there was also a tasty selection of seasonal fruits on offer.
The place is conveniently located for different walks and also for trips to Inverness and to the Isle of Skye. We really enjoyed our short stay and wished we could stay longer at this lovely place.

It was a absolutly lovely stay. Everything was new and the hosts are more than helpful. The breakfast left no wishes open and the cozy beds were great. I would definitive go back again. We've met nice people and hope to stay in contact.
