A Vacation is what you make of it
Repeater at this Hotel from last February. Our vacation was for sun and relaxation. Found this hotel very secure for us two women traveling alone. Street very well lighted from the foyer to your villa. Stayed in villa 12 room 1220 ocean view from Feb 6-13 in front of the Roselle pool. Clean room and room attendant very polite and efficient. Only the A.C. was not as efficient, room very humid at times good thing there's a ceiling fan I know I know it's the Caribbean but been to other resort and it was not like this even with a card in the control all day. Lot's of place on this resort to sit and enjoy the sun if not at the Sunset Cove beach then at other less crowded beach which are not always suitable for swimming but great to relax by the ocean. Reminds me of Bermuda's coves. Don't forget to visit the Spa, the pool is beautiful retreat. A nice peaceful swim if you want to get away from it all.
Plenty of food at buffets but not always easy to find a banana you might see them some mornings. Apples and great desert are to be found only at Miss Lou but no cookies at all. Lunch was always great at the outdoor Blue Lagoon with the amazing view of the main pool. I must say the best restaurant was the Xaymaica Jamaican, they cooked there meat to perfection compare to Bubbas with the same cut of beef it was a disaster. Lotus house Asian again was good but Reggaetoni and Bubbas are a hit some nights and other time not in tuned with customers. What prompt me to return to this resort is the night life. They have great entertainment at the Infinity Bar different live bands every night. After there's always the Disco which sometime we felt it was the employee's Palladium animation crowd own party place. If you were hungry the sport bar is always open for popcorn, sandwich, beers and a game of pool. For night hawks it's a great place. Special thanks to Kenesha Guess Relation for which she was very helpful to accommodate our needs and comments. Overall a great vacation, love Jamaica.

To make it clear, this location is called Grand Palladium and consists of 2 resorts (in name only), 1 being Jamaica Resort and the other being the Lady Hamilton. Each has their own reception desk. But it is really 1 resort with all facilities being shared, 1 nighttime entertainment, etc. Stayed for 1 week on the Jamaica side (as they say) and had a great time, super place to stay! I honestly cannot complain about anything really! No vacation is absolutely perfect, but I want you to know overall I was extremely satisfied and happy with this resort, would definitely go back and/or recommend it to friends.

Resort Size

It’s huge. A lot of walking, so if you have any difficulty walking you will be sore after 1 week. There is gas powered passenger vehicles zipping around very often and they will take you to anywhere on the resort for no charge 24 hours/day. Occasionally leave a $1 USD tip is what I did. Just call 2800 from your room and they will come within 10 minutes or less.

Beach

There is 2 main beaches. Always lots of chairs available, no problem. Lots of shade available. Sand is not as fine as I have seen in other places but is ok. The water is beautiful, with some seaweed etc, but not a lot at all. The water bottom was only sandy in certain places and the rest was rocky bottom so everybody that went into the water went into the same places so as not to be in the rocky areas. Both beaches have food right on the beach and bars nearby. Lines for drinks were never long when I was there. Max wait 5 minutes for drinks. If you are going for pristine beach, I would say there is better, but it is ok for sure! Lots of water sport activities available for free as long as there is no motor involved. Motorized activities you pay for.

Food

Probably the highlight of my trip besides the sun. Food is outstanding. Many al a cartes, but I only tried 1 and was not super impressed. Stick to the buffets I would say – tons of food and great varieties. Eat your face off with many desserts. The table red wine was nice from Spain. 4 cheeses each meal minimum. I am sure I gained weight! Always tables available and some are outside. Staff very nice and professional.

Drinks

Excellent variety of whiskeys! Cdn Club, Red Label, Brandies and lots of rum. Go to the café upstairs where the games, newspapers, coffee and dessert shop are (make sure you find this place) and there is an even better selection of whiskies – Drambuie, Chivas and others. Usually the water and food make me have 2 days of diarrhea but I never got sick here and that is amazing!

Pool

Massive, massive and a lot of fun. Many places to sit and has all depth levels for all ages, even 3 year olds! Water polo area, swim up bar, huge huge!

Activities

Beach volleyball is every day and the staff get things going. Little contests and dancing lessons keep everybody busy, but if you want to just chill there is tons of chairs and shade available all around the pool area, it is big, big!

Internet

Free wireless internet in the lobby, always place to sit, even some plugs to plug in. Can be slow at times and disconnect randomly, but overall is ok.

Nighttime show

The staff are super and do their best, but it is not really that great. It’s ok to pass the time though, then definitely head upstairs to the big bar for live music and dancing. Everybody is here.

Sports Bar

24 hrs drinks and food, nachos, etc. Pool tables and ping pong with sub par equipment but fun. You can meet a lot of people here and enjoy the time!

Rooms

Big. Very nice king bed, fridge stocked with free drinks beer included. Flat screen tv, Jacuzzi tub, big shower, fast hot water. The only thing missing was maybe a set of drawers for clothes. Silent a/c unit. You can leave your key in the power switch so you’re a/c is on all day. The maid did not do a super job cleaning but was ok. I dropped a little bit of chocolate on the floor and it was never cleaned but the room was swept daily. Maid should have done a better job for a 5 star.

Day trips

Never did any but did enquire and the prices were more expensive with Sunquest rep than with the Jamaican guys that hang out outside the front gate and/or the front lobby guys can hook you up with tour guides with cars. Must, repeat must, settle price firmly prior to departing with anybody! 10% tip expected for good service with the private guys.

Store and Nurse

Store has pretty much everything you could need and a nurse can hook you up with a doctor and/ or prescription fast. $25 for a nurse appointment. Buy your rum and coffee at the airport when leaving, cheaper there!

Best resort I have ever stayed at overall, best food, best staff service, best drinks, best quality of resort, internet, pool, etc. Not the best beach/water though in the world but ok.

This was our first trip back to Jamaica since our honeymoon 15 years ago. We had the most wonderful vacation and I have nothing negative to say about this resort. It is very large, which means that there is plenty of room for everyone. There are multiple beaches and pools and while there were often waits for the better restaurants (Italian/Steak), you could always wait in either the inside or outside bars with beautiful views and often times live music. We stayed in Building #24 and had a large bedroom and sitting room with a partial view of the sea. It was gorgeous. The room was always kept clean and the refrigerator was consistently stocked with beer, soda and water. Below are a few brief descriptions of our experience:
-Check In: Quick and easy. Very pleasant. We were driven to our room in a golf cart.
-Food: was very good - at the buffets and at the restaurants. NO complaints!!! Poseidon's for lunch by Sunset Cove serves a delicious jerk chicken sandwich. There was singing and dancing at the steak house! The house wine is pretty good!
-Grounds: BEAUTIFUL!!!!! There is a lot of walking, but you are walking through a beautiful resort and it really isn't an issue.
-Beaches: There is coral at some of the beaches. Having said that, you can see it in the water and it can be easily avoided! The water is clear and warm!
My husband and I could think of nothing we would change. I heard another couple while there discussing the same topic and they too agreed that there is no obvious need for any improvement.
The resort is safe and the staff is exceptional. I cannot figure out why anyone would give this resort negative reviews. For those people complaining about the lack of child activities or food etc.....there are PLENTY of resorts in Jamaica that cater to children and families. Personally, we loved the fact that most of the guests at this resort were couples or groups of adult friends! It made it far more relaxing! We would go back there without any reservations. Please feel free to ask me any questions!

I just spent 7 days with a friend at this resort. From the day we got there we were impressed with the architecture, the cleanliness of the rooms and how great the people staff were. The staff at every dining room we ate at were courteous and very quick to respond to our requests. Since having gotten back almost a week ago, I've probably told anyone who would listen about how wonderful this place is. I do find it funny though that someone with 2 and 5 year old children would complain that the resort is too big. A little homework people. And really, who can complain about the food? Unless you live under a rock and only eat Italian and steak, the food (much of it West Indian) was wonderful. And that bean bag game, genius

Just returned from our yearly Winter vacation in Jamaica Feb 6-13th this year after being there 26 years ago for our honeymoon. This resort is on a large scale with having the use of the Lady Hamilton also. There are trams that are available if need be. Just call from your room.
Here is my review:
LOCATION - isolated but no planned excursions this year so no problem. You are actually in a small village called Lucea between Montego Bay & Negril 40 minutes to the airport.
FOOD - excellent but preferred the Steak House (2) times and the Italian and the beach grill for hamburgs & hot dogs everyday. NO reservations required at this resort which is OK.
ACCOMMODATIONS - with the resort being fairly new Summer 2008, well maintained and very large and the only downside was the beds were not comfortable at all
POOLS - (3) pools and the main pool apparently is the largest in Jamaica including a swim up bar
BARS - many many bars & don't forget Miss Lou's bar having premium liquors, specialty coffee, cappuccino and espresso coffee and many desserts right beside the Infinity Bar where the nightly band is. A must try drink the hummingbird & the purple rain - excellent. Bring your thermal mugs for your drinks. STRONGLY recommended.
BEACH - main beach OK but be sure to bring your water shoes - very very rocky ! Coral Beach on the Lady Hamilton side & the Sunset Cove for the best jerk chicken ever - at the Jerk Hut on the beach VERY SPICY and where all the water sports take place kayaks, paddle boats, catamarans etc.
CUSTOMER SERVICE - felt the staff went over & beyond and very friendly always saying Hi with a smile and asking if everything is OK for our vacation.
OVERALL, a beautiful resort & any of those negative reviews, not sure where you people stayed ??
Any questions, please feel free to send a message.

Like the other reviews, I decided to try this hotel regardless of the bad reviews. I had a great time. The hotel grounds are very large, a small shuttle was available to take you around to the different locations. The pool was huge with 3 smaller ones, and plenty of lounge chairs with shade if you needed them. Quite a few activites by the pool. I never had a problem with the bar service. I actually thought they made drinks very well compared to other all inclusive resorts I've been. The suite was roomy and the bed comfortable. Employees were very friendly, everyone spoke and offered assistance. Because of the size of the hotel, no area or resteraunt never seemed overly crowded. Although only one of the beaches provided water sports, there were plenty of beach to enjoy. However, closer to the main lobby the beaches were more rocky than sandy. My low points--food was just ok, nothing great about it even though they had plenty of resteraunts. No food past 11pm except the sports bar and lines would be long. The rooms were in smaller bungalow type buildings and birds and bugs would make lots of noises especially at night. The refrigerator did not keep anything cold. The hotel is about 30 mintues from Negril but 45 from Montego Bay so keep this in mind. I would stay there again if the price was right and would recommend it to others.

We arrived with friends and check in was great! resort was beautiful! Staff very friendly.
Until day 3 we left the resort for a day trip returned dropped our stuff off in our rooms and headed for a late supper. At this point of the day we did not have turn down service so no one should be going into our rooms. Returned a couple of hours later to find that our friends room had been broken into and they had been robbed. The resort insisted that there was no way to remove the items from the resort by staff so they could not help us.
If you go there leave your valubles at home. Check how the door latches as that was how they got in, popped the door with a card.
