My wife and I have never experienced anything as wonderful as this before, and for several reasons we will be back to the Grand Palladium. The first and most important reason is the unbelievable staff. Literally everybody was very friendly in a most sincere way. It seems to me that they must be hired based on their personality traits and willingness to smile. The first impression is always the most important, and that role was performed in a most admirable manner by Collington who greeted us at the Negril Restaurant. We were not just given a table to sit, but were escorted and seated. It's difficult to remember everybody. Collington was great and gave us hugs when we were leaving to come back home; He was a great conversationalist and an excellent manager too! Ask him were is best to dine, and he is ready to make you a reservation at any of the Restaurant. The ride from the Montego Bay airport is almost 30 mins long, and the seats in the busses are cramped. Some of the other guests were inconsiderate in being very noisy late at night also. We went to Ocho Rios during the day for a couple hours to experience the "real" Jamaica, which of course wasn't the "real" Jamaica-just the tourist stores, but we were provided a bus with a driver from the Resort who escorted us everywhere and gave us advice on where to buy stuff. This service was at an extra cost, but very reasonable. This resort advertises "all-inclusive" which we were skeptical of, but it really is all-inclusive. The food was out of this world, and lots of it. The bars all opened up at 10:00 AM and stayed open until very late. Never any indication of any limits on anything. We were with family, including one four year old granddaughter. We got to experience Jamaica's Independence Day celebration which was very cool and very beautiful! Every day there was something different and fun to do. My wife and I renewed our wedding vows in the Carribean Ocean too!

We read the comments before we left the UK and were a little wary of staying here.... but what we were very pleased indeed! We had a brilliant holiday there! The staff were really friendly (not so much in the main shop), we engaged in conversation with everyone around the complex and were treated respectfully and in a friendly manner. Maybe, it's how the guests treat the hard-working staff is the issue?
We have been coming to Jamaica for many years and feel that this hotel needs to be defended against all those negative people who enjoy ranting about the most insignificant things! For example, "The noise of the indigenous creatures at night " was a problem, also questioned, "were they for real or a recording"? REALLY?
Or, the hilarious, "the room wasn't available for 3 hours, it ruined the whole day"???!! Was it during this time that the ‘complainer’ compiled the negative rant, as they had nothing else to do?
We have experienced some holidays were we needed to change rooms, or the electricity was off, or there was a lack of water for 20 minutes but some problems do occur in hotels and there may be frustrations, but do yourself a favour- remember you are on holiday and it’s up to you to deal with the situation, give it time and trust that those who are trying to rectify the situation are doing their best!
We ate in every restaurant available, and if one was very busy, (e.g., on Independence Day), we ate somewhere else on the complex. My husband needs a Gluten Free diet as he has Coeliac, and was given a card to show the server at the table. The level of understanding, training in this area and helpfulness was outstanding! We cannot praise all of these people enough!
Over and above recognition should go to the young Chef in the Indian restaurant, for his exceptional care and attention, and the Pattisier/Pastry Chef, who was mostly at the Buffet Restaurants, who was so accommodating and keen to please, one evening, even personally delivering dessert to my husband in the Mexican Restaurant, as there was no gluten free option on the menu. You guys are amazing!
This thoughtful and understanding service was what we found to be the norm at the Palladium and as well as the cleanliness everywhere, approachability of all staff, standard of the buildings/décor/grounds, made for a brilliant time at this hotel!
Message to the management, please praise your servers, cleaners admin staff, entertainment, bar staff, gardeners etc, on our behalf! It is very much appreciated. Thanks to Hyacinth, an amazing Thomson Rep, you are a star!

The food was consistently good, waiting area at the restaurants do not have air conditioner. if you enjoy hot humid temperature even while your waiting to be seated for dinner, this is the place to go. The rooms were big, however, there was a bad odor, we complained and were moved to another room but the odor was the same, it seems like the humidity was causing the bad mold odor.

I choose to stay at this hotel because of the kids club, however, the staff did not seem interested in having kids there, I asked many questions about the activities and was given a simple "look at the schedule that was left in your room"....... we like to travel with our 8yr old son, we also enjoy being able to leave him where he can be entertained for a few hours. For this reason, we will not consider this hotel for future vacations.

Pros: food, pool, room size, kayaking, pedal boats, snorkeling, sports bar (open 24hrs)
Cons: Kids Club, Man made beach, no room service,

I recommend, all inclusive hotels in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, best service from all the resorts we have visited. to name a few: Hard Rock, Paradisus, Esmeralda.

Do not believe the bad reviews. Here is the truth about the Grand Palladium. We visited August 12-18 and had a wonderful experience at the Lady Hamilton Grand Palladium. Of course the reason that we went on vacation was to enjoy ourselves and as always we traveled with our manners, self respect, and respect for others in tact and had a great time.

Based on reading reviews on this site we were skeptical about going but I am certainly glad we went and would suggest that you try this resort for the following reasons:

The property has a beautiful setting in Lucea and upon approaching the "Grand Palladium" on our arrival it shone in the sun beautifully as if it were a a castle on the age of the sea;

I can only attest to the Lady Hamilton villas but our villa was lovely. We had an junior suite ocean view and a king size bed with comfortable linens, consistently good maid service, with plenty of hot water and a large tub. The bathroom was larger than expected based on some of the reviews we had read and we were more than satisfied;

The service at our meals was good, comparable to service in most restaurants in the U.S., some servers were better than others. In general we had consistently pleasant, warm service with a smile.

The food at the buffets in the Montego Bay and Negril buffets was prepared and displayed well. The number of restaurants allowed us to try different ones and we were never hungry or at a loss for food. The Creole restaurant had especially good service and the food was good. The Jerk Hut on Sunset beach was also good jerk chicken with portions sizes more than we could finish. We also tried Bubba's steak house but it was average.

The beaches are easily within walking distance from the Lady Hamilton side and we enjoyed the water that was clear and nice.

The Infinity pool said to be the largest pool in Jamaica is beautiful and huge. It is a great backdrop for photos and is very lively with music and activities to let you feel "Irie."

Because of the beach areas there is plenty of space to have some quiet time and feel as though you are at a smaller resort.

Here are some things that we prepared for to make our trip easier:

You need to wear beach shoes because there are some rocky areas on the beaches. We went to Coral Beach, which was closest to our villa, on the adult side of the resort. There were only a few rocks there. At the main beach near the pool bar there are more rocks but if you have on shoes with a rubber sole it makes walking around the edge more comfortable. During the week I got used to walking on the rocks and left the shoes alone.

We took some towels with us since so many reviews talked about towel service being a problem in the villas. We arrived around noon to the hotel and we had no large towels when we arrived. We used the ones we brought initially but within an hour or so our maid was at the door with all the towels we needed. Neither maid service nor towels was a problem for us.

Because of the large number of people at the resort we made sure to arrive pretty much when the restaurants open or within thirty minutes of opening to eliminate wait time. On different days there were longer lines than others. For instance Saturday and Sunday were busy days.
If we did not want to wait we just chose another restaurant. After all we did not take a vacation to get frustrated about small inconveniences.

We tipped regularly and received very good service. Tipping was never requested by any staff but out of respect we tip. It is always better to treat others how you would want to be treated.

The hotel is in a hot tropical climate and shows some normal wear, which is to be expected. The only item I noticed which should be addressed by management is water leaking on glass panel walls of the Negril buffet. It looks as if maintenance had not addressed this yet. The leak did not affect our meal but was noticeable.

If anyone has mobility issues be aware this is a large resort and we saw no elevators for resort guests and there are marble stairs in the main building and the upper floors of the villa.

We had a great time and we will be back. The hotel is a good value for the price and the staff helped us with everything that we requested. I think that you will have a good time if you show respect for the people of Jamaica. It helps to know how to enjoy yourself.

Room Tip: Choose a villa on the Lady Hamilton side of the resort because these villas appear newer. It is wor...

Our stay in the Grand Palladium was so far over the top! The pictures of it on the website are accurate but what really put this place on the map of the best destinations for me was its staff. Warm and friendly doesn't start to describe them. It started on our first day there, Ricardo Streete, bartender extraordinare, made us not only feel at home but as if we were rock stars and family all tied up in one! He and the rest of the staff made sure we not only had "No problems, mon," but also that we had a extravagant time from the first minute we arrived with rum punch service to the minute we disembarked. The rooms are beyond beautiful, the infinity pool and beach vistas breathtaking, the 12 restaurants and bars delicious, the spa has to be seen to be believed, but the staff makes the Grand Palladium a definite return destination for us. You will not be sorry if you go. And even if you have a situation when you are there, the staff will ensure it is fixed and you are happy. Bravo!

Room Tip: Get a room with a view if you can, they are amazing.
