having recently stayed at this fantastic hotel it was let down by the fact that you had to queue for all the al la carte restaurants which was very disappointing and not what you would expect for a 5 star hotel, our longest wait was an hour and forty mins shortest forty five mins the food in all was great but the waiting awful we even stated going out early so we could get a table
the buffet restaurants were great and the fish restaurant at lunch time excellent all the staff are extremely friendly and very helpful, Mark and Kevon in the bar where the shows are held are great nothing ever too much trouble
the hotel is fantastic and the views when you enter are breath taking
our room had all the facilities we required and the maid service and room cleanliness was very good
on the whole we had a great time but as I said the queues for restaurants took the shine off for us
we also did not find the staff to be very helpful in the infinity bar hence we did not go there often
the spa was fabulous and we spent most afternoons there

Room Tip: we were in block 38 which is opposite the spa and only a short walk to the facilities and was quiet

From the moment we arrived we received poor customer service. I was travelling with my Aunt and the front desk wanted to give us a King with a pull out couch. We had booked our trip 3+ months in advance and requested 2 beds. I woman that was checking us in was rude and didn't want to accommodate our request. Finally we were able to convince her to give us a room with 2 beds. We were taken to our room where we immediately noticed that the bathroom wasn't clean and the couch was so dirty we didn't even want to put our luggage on it. We walked back to the front desk and spoke to a gentleman and explained we were not happy with the condition of our room. He too didn't seem to care that we were paying good money to stay at this hotel. Finally he agreed to send housekeeping back to our room. When we went back there was a blanket over the couch but the bathroom still wasn't clean. We complained again about the bathroom. Finally the shower was clean. However, we noticed that the maid for the remainder of our trip never cleaned the bathroom again. Not once were we given an apology nor any retribution for our inconvenience.
The service at this hotel is atrocious. You had to wait to be seated even though there were multiple empty tables. We you would ask the hostess how long the wait would be you would receive instant attitude from them. There are 7 restaurants and this occurred in each one. The food was subpar at best. This hotel boasts a 5 star rating. They barely are a 3 star in my point of view.
The hotel has two redeeming qualities their pool is amazing as well as their grounds.

Room Tip: I would advise choosing another Hotel in Jamaica

Dear Tara R,

At the outset, we want to thank you for having chosen to vacation with us on your recent visit to Jamaica.

We have always pride ourselves at having one of the best staff compliments that can be found in the service industry, and for this reason we do regret hearing that your experience upon check-in was below satisfactory.
As for the room and its cleanliness, please be assured that this is not the standard which we enforce, and so are very thankful that you have taken the time to complete this review. It does give us an opportunity to take the necessary steps to avoid same from recurring.

We have taken notice of all your comments, and at the same time are happy to know that your found our pool and the grounds quite pleasurable.

Our humblest apology once again and thank you for your comments.

Regards,

Stayed two weeks (13-27 april) for our wedding.

First, bring good walking shoes because it is big!

Food: the 7 à la carte restaurants are excellent, but the steak house (bubas) and asian are the best. Buffet is quite resonable, but in two weeks only went twice. It is a first come , first served system (unless you are at the lady hamilton), but not much wait if you go before 6:30 pm.

Beaches: average, but great for snorkling.

Staff is very polite (for jamaica). People that were complaning, seem to think that they own the resort! Remember, they are trying to acomodate over 900 peoples.

The main pool is incredible, with the pool bar and two other bars near the pool. The music is always playing and animation work hard, but if you want to relax, go to one of the two isolated pools (one is for adults only)
Spas 5*, but expensive
Rooms 4* and very clean, and yes the fridge is filled every day.
Grounds 5*

There are a lot of stores at the resort, and the prices are very similar to shoping in negril. But for rhum, rhumcream, cofee...buy it at the airport on the way back, it is cheaper (and does not count in your lugage weight)

Shows every night at the main stage and infinity bar. Talking about the infinity bar, it is the best. Great drinks, close to the restaurants, but the best is the sunset. Dont pay to go see it in negril, it is free at the resort, and as nice.

For the people getting maried, the planning is great, and there are no bad suprises when you get there, everything is as planed. One small detail that could be better. When meeting the wedding planer, we expected to be received with a glass of champaigne, or at the least cold drinks, but this was not the case. It is a special day and should be treated as such. This being said, the ceremony is awsome.

The wifi is free at the loby, but is often long to log on. Internet at the loby is 4$ for 30 minutes, and they also have calling cards at 20$ for 22 minutes.

Bring american money. Dont change it to jamaican, you lose to much. There is a ATM on location that gives american or jamaican, but is sometimes empty.

If you decide to go to rickys bar or margaritaville in negril, bring lots of cash because it is expensive. (nacho 19$ and beer 7$)

This is a good 4 to 4 1/2* resort. If the price is right, don't hesitate. This is also a great place for kids of all ages.

Came to this hotel for a good friends wedding. What a place! I have travelled to a lot of 'Grand Palladium' resorts, and this is my favorite out of all I have been to. The pool is amazing, the staff is unreal. The Entertainment at night is actually good entertainment. I have been to a lot of resorts in Jamaica, and see the same thing over and over; So it was so nice to enjoy actually seeing a SHOW and real talent on the stages.
The staff that works there is impecable. I have never seen such wonderfully trained wait staff. They are definitely 5-star quality staff, and could not thank them enough for their genuine smiles and care. 'Jason A' at the italian restaurant is a breath of fresh air, and he needs to be recognized for all of his hard work, I am serious when I say he needs to be promoted! What an excellent waiter, and always smiling. He stood out from everyone who waited on us this trip, and no matter how busy it was he was making sure all the guests were happy and had a smile on their face.
The rooms are amazing, and could not have asked for more in a standard bathroom....I did not expect a shower AND a jacuzzi tub in a huge bathroom, it was wonderful. Only bad thing I have to say was the housekeeping does NOT do the towels, so it was frustrating when you would get back from the day,see your bed beautifully made and want a shower, but have your old towels taken and not have fresh towels to use, because different staff does that job. A few more beer in the fridge would be a nice treat as well.

Room Tip: From my experience, it was wonderful. YOu cant complain about walking, because if you dont want to...

My husband and I stayed at the Grand Palladium from April 21-26th. We really enjoyed our stay and cant wait to return. We arrived early the day we got there so we couldnt check in for about 5 hours. That was fine with us. We changed into our bathing suits and went to the buffet. After that we went to wander around the resort and went to the beach. The main beach at the resort is not so great. You need water shoes because its very rocky! If you are looking for a good beach you must go to Sunset Cove on the Lady Hamilton side. It is gorgeous! Snorkeling there is a must! You just have to put down a $25 deposit. There is a jerk chicken hut that is really good and the Poseidon Restaurant is not bad either. The resort is so big that it may be a long walk depending where you are. No need to worry mon :) There are golf carts to take you around if you need one. We didnt mind walking at all. The Buffet is good for breakfast, they have many options. Fresh juice, fruit, salad, bacon, eggs, sausage, etc. They have an omelette station where you can get fresh eggs made any style. The scrambled eggs in the buffet are a little watery for me. For the alcohol bring MUGS! I cant stress that enough! They serve drinks in cups no bigger than a dixie cup. We stopped at wal-mart on the way to the airport and got mugs and it was well worth it! Most of the people are very friendly, some are quiet. The room was very nice and clean...no musty smell at all! We were in Villa 24 and it was close to the lobby and main pool areas. We tipped almost everyone. I suggest bringing some singles because these people do not make much money at all. It wont kill you to leave a couple bucks here and there. We did 2 excursions. We went on a booze cruise catamaran that takes you snorkeling and to Margaritaville in Montego bay. Lots of fun! One day we took the day trip to Negril. it had the most beautiful beach I have seen so far in my life. That also brings you to a Margaritaville. They take you souvenir shopping which we could have done without. Lastly you go to Ricks Cafe where they jump off cliffs! Fun to watch! At the resort there are a bunch of restaurants to choose from. Men must wear long pants to them. We visited the Mexican, Italian, Jamaican and Steakhouse. Italian was not good at all. I enjoyed the steakhouse the most. I had lamb chops and they were delish! The restaurants are first come, first serve. They do NOT take reservations! Get there early! We waited every time. Not so bad though you can have a cocktail in the meantime. Every restaurant has a salad bar so if you are starving you can get some salad and appetizers right away which is nice. We loved the pools here. The big pool has a swim up bar. We enjoyed the small pool right outside of our villa the most. Quiet and clean and there is a bar there also. You can always get fresh towels without a problem. Overall we had an amazing vacation at this resort and we would love to go back!

Room Tip: Ask to stay on the 3rd floor so theres no musty smell! Bring mugs for drinks!

This Hotel is truly one of the Majestic Hotel there is. A must visit by all. No matter there is no elevator, the staff enjoys taking you around in a Golf like car. So you always feel like royalty. The Spas are wonderful, not to mention the Restaurants, the food is great. I won't reveal everything, you must visit...

Room Tip: All the rooms are wonderful, those that i have seen, no complaints.

I've just retuned from our wonderful vacation in Jamaica. Before leaving I was a bit concerned about the comments about this resort. No one needs to worry. You want the truth read on.

First of all the people are so friendly and helpful, and this from the moment you get off the plane to the resort and activities.

The resort is phenomenal. The people are extraordinary. The facilities are clean and well kept. My room was great and we had replenishments of everything daily.

The restaurants and buffet were exceptional. I've been to many resorts and the food here is out of this world. Delicious with so much taste.

The pool are huge and well kept. The beaches are great especially at Sunset Cove.

I will return to this resort in the future. You should see what you are missing.
