“Lovely Lady Hamilton”
Reviewed August 2, 2010

My Husband and I spent a fornight at Lady Hamilton from 11th - 25th July. We had an amazing time and the hotel exceeded our expectations.
After a very long wait to get through immigration at Montego Bay airport, to arrive at the hotel and be given a l cooling welcome drink was heaven. We felt like we had arrived at Paradise. We were checked in very smoothly and taken to our room in block 33 which was at the quieter end of the resort, The room was large, very clean and comfortable with a superking bed. The bathroom had a huge shower and and big Jacuzzi bath again very clean and tidy. The mini bar was well stocked and re-stocked every day without any hassle. Our room was always immaculately clean and we never had any problems getting clean towels etc.
The food at the hotel was excellent not just in the a la cartes but the buffets too, there was so much choice , I defy anybody to say they couldnt find something to eat. We tried all the a la cartes with the exception of the Poseidon see food, it was a bit of a walk. All the others were centrally located. In running order our favourites were the , steakhouse, Italian, Mexican, Creole, Asian, Indian.
Our only niggle of the stay was the fact that the house red and white wine was awful, only fit to cook with. The management team are very keen to get guest comments and one night I spoke to one of the management team about the quality of the wine particularly when the Hotel is spanish owned , the wine could and should be better, as I was all inclusive I was not going to pay 30$ for a decent wine. The drinks at the the bars were brilliant and strong so be prepared for them!!!!, .
Service was very good and we did not do very much extra tipping, the odd dollar here and there and a tip for our room maid.
The Hotel had three beaches , our favourite was Coral beach which was peaceful and adults only, las brisas beach was also lovely. The main hotel pool is for the loud and lively guests so avoid if you want peace. The Spa is massive and you could go an use the steam room/sauna and pools.
Outisde the hotel very little to see, Lucea town is just five minutes from the hotel but dont bother, nothing to do and no real shops.
We did two trips whilst at Lady H, Ricks Cafe and Negril shopping , $15 dollars, shopping was rubbish and not cheap , , Negril awful, the saving grace was seeing the Sunset at Ricks but again $4.70 for a red stripe , expensive when you are there for nearly three hours!!!
The other trip was Cool Runnings Cruise and Dunns River falls, I warn you now it is a three hour cramped bus ride from Lady H to Ocho Rios, very tedious and we spent more time travelling than doing the Falls/Cruise. Climbing the falls was amazing but strenous so think carefully before you take the trip.
To sum up , we loved Lady Hamilton and had a fabulous two weeks, if you go enjoy every minute, you wont be disappointed!!!!!!

Like many of you, everyday i was reading bad reviews about this place leading up to our holiday, so much so it almost put me off going, although i appreciate that everyone is entitled to an opinion i am so glad i didn't listen too much to the bad reviews. Firstly i feel for you people that had problems with the hotel as that would not have been nice as you were on holiday/vacation, secondly we had a fabulous time, relaxing lush room, excellent service, ok the pool bar & some of the shops employees did seem a little unhappy at times but the waiters/waitresses at the buffet restaurant were lovely, always greeted with a smile, never waited long for a table. Didn't really use the a la carts only the steakhouse, again received excellent service. Rooms cleaned daily, no issues with towels etc. our cleaners were two lovely ladies called Viretta & Donna, very pleasant & friendly ladies. Pool was lush, beaches not brilliant but still used them. Food, more than enough choice, i'm a picky eater but never failed to find something nice. You have to try this place, if you like to wander outside hotels when your on holiday then it's not for you but if it's chilling in the sun with a few cocktails then this is the place for you. We will be returning.

Stayed at this resort for 2 weeks for my main holiday. The resort and beaches are beautiful, rooms spacious, grounds well looked after. We chose a 5 star as we have done previously but overall we were very disappionted with this hotel. With a 5 star you expect a touch of luxury but alas the main dining rooms were grubby, chairs badly damaged and seating dirty. The food we found was not hot enough and most of the food was deep fried even bacon etc at breakfast. After evening meal we went to the main bar, where again we found the seating was discusting, dirty chairs some with tears from top to bottom the arms on the chairs had such a build up of body creams etc you could have scraped it off with a knife. We also objected to having our eavening drinks served in plastic cups although after the first week this was changed. We spoke to many others who were also dissapointed.Although this hotel boasts of a 5 star rating regretfully it falls very short of this and would only command an upper 3 star. There were many points that did not come up to the 5 star standard too many to mention. I think when the hotel was first open it would have been good but they have let it deteriorate like all hotels you have to keep up with standards .If you like a quality hotel ofa true 5 star rating then this is not for you.

My stay the GPLH was fantastic!!!!! It was an experience I will never forget. Please do not focus on bad reviews. You have to go and experience it yourself. The waiters and waitress worked very hard to accomodate you. The food was great, all of restaurants were open daily and also the two bufferts. The entertainment was excellent and so was the activites through out the day.The spa area was great because if you are looking for relaxation that's the place to be. They have several pools in that area. The fitness center is nice and cozy for a fitness center. The grounds are very well kept. The room my sister and I had was huge. We had a living room with a couch with a pull out bed, a flat screen tv and a bar that is refill everyday with water, soda, and red stripe beer, you also have a private balcony. A huge bathroom with a jacquzzi, and a huge walk in shower. Then you have your huge bedroom with another pvt balcony and flat screen tv with a huge king size bed. The gift shop is alittle pricey so make sure you bring what you need. They have a professional photographer that take your picture everywhere you are. The pictures are $12 for a 5X7 if you buy under 6 of them, if you buy more than 6 you pay $10 each. The property is so huge that if you don't feel like walking they have 24hr golf cart service that take you anywhere you would like to go. Every night they put on a live show in the theater. I can go on and on about this place. I go on lots of cruises but this place is great. I will definitely be back again next year.

We stayed at the Lady Hamilton in late July of 2010 for 7 nights and it was FANTASTIC. We did research for about 3 months in the spring deciding where to go because we knew it was the beginning of hurricane season. We talked to some local travel agents and eventually narrowed in on the Dominican Republic, Mexico, or Jamaica. We finally found a great deal on CheapCaribbean and ended up going to Jamaica for cheaper than either of the other two. The weather was, well, what we expected for July in the Caribbean. Hot and sunny at times, but cloudy or rainy at others. We definitely enjoyed ourselves despite the weather and in 8 days it only stormed enough to send us inside on 1 occasion. That being said, the weather is definitely best in the AM and you shouldn't book a trip for this time of year if a suntan is your #1 goal. As for the hotel, it was incredible and exceeded our expectations from start to finish. It is about 30 minutes west of Montego Bay and the airport, totally secluded, with 3 sand beaches separated by some rocky areas. The resort really is huge, but there are plenty of walking paths and carts to drive you around if you don't mind a small tip. Although this resort shows up separately in all the websites, it really is just one giant resort with almost no difference except the Lady Hamilton side being a little closer to the better beaches and the spa. The room was very spacious and stayed cool the entire week. No problems with dirty linens, towels, bugs, or anything else that we heard about on some of the reviews of various hotels. We were sad to go, but definitely enjoyed our stay and would go back again. I travel quite a bit and don't consider myself very picky, but I think that the Lady Hamilton and Jamaica in general are nice enough to please even the toughest critic.
A few notes we had:
-Don't rush through customs when you arrive and grab a drink when you get out of them. The shuttles move very slowly and we waited over an hour for our room. Everyone we talked to had a similar experience regardless of hotel or arrival time.
-Relax and try not to get in a hurry. The Jamaicans live life at a totally different pace than we do, so they don't tend to move very quickly. In fact, I don't believe that they even understand the concept of time. Don't bring a watch and don't even bother asking. They will just tell you "No Problem!"
-Everyone from the hotel was super nice, especially the bartenders and servers at restaurants. We could count on one hand the number of rude staff we encountered.
-The food was good at all the different buffets and a la cart places, but our favorite was the Steak place. Make sure you go early though because they tend to have a small wait during primetime. Try some Caribbean jerk food, it is really good and a bit spicy.
-All the bars were exciting and entertaining, although we really didn't do any of the "discos". The bar at the main pool has some great bartenders and is always a fun place to be. ONeill, Kevin, and Randean were some of our favorites there almost daily.
-The beaches are pretty calm and scenic, but the main pool is THE place to be for entertainment. Loud music, games, bars, and general good time all day long. The weather never stopped the party at the main pool, so that's where we normally started our day before moving to the calmer beaches in the afternoon.
-It's tough to leave with all inclusive, but we really enjoyed our one excursion and might should have done another one.
-For couples, the massage on the beach is a MUST and reasonably priced for 2 (and it includes a bottle of champagne)

We could probably go on forever, but to sum it up, we had a wonderful time in Jamaica and at the Lady Hamilton. It was better than we expected and a great overall trip. We felt very safe the entire time and never worried about getting into any trouble while at the resort. 2 thumbs way up.

We just got back and the service sucked. We have been to quite a few places in our travels and we will not be going back. The front desk service is the worst. Lots of people behind the counter but when it is your turn they just stand their and pretend that they are busy. We called down to the desk because the tv remote and safe was not working, We were not going to leave our passports in a room not locked in a safe when we were not their. We waited more that 2 hours, called reception twice and they said that someone would be right up. So we got fed up, went out in the hall and found a cleaning lady and she was finally able to get us some help. I know that it was not of high importantance, but this was our vacation that we had paid for.
During our stay my husband was asked by quite a few staff members if he wanted some weed. This was very disgracefull and disapointing from a 5 star resort????
On our last day we called down for the bell boy for a pick-up. We had lots of time in advance, no one answered the phone, so then I called reception got some one and I asked how long they said 5 minutes, ok Well 15 minutes passed and still no one. So we walked with our luggage through the resort at 6:00am and still no bell boy. We got to the lobby and the guy at check out says O youre here? I said yes after fifteen minutes of nobody showing up we walked. Thanks alot. That did it for us.
We will be sticking to the resorts in the Mayan Riveria, The service and the people are so much nicer, The people of Mexico are much harder working, and take pride in their jobs and what they do. Even though we do not under stand spanish. O La

We traveled for a week in july with our 5 year old daughter. Trip to the resort was about 40 minutes. Check in was quick and offered a rum punch, and juice for our daughter(girl not to friendly though). Our room(jr. suite) was very big and clean 2 beds and a sofa sleeper made up- to our surprise our daughter picke that - next trip we get a king! (. As typical of most tropical places we stayed, the finishing touches ( plaster work kind of stuff) not the best, but couldnt hamper my trip. Bathroom large with shower and huge jetted tub. shampoo, caps, bath get, and bar soap in room. Flat screen tv had many channels. view of walkway but we werent in room much.
Food was amazing! fresh sushi at lunch daily. omlets awesome. variety of food for everyone. I admit there were things didnt try others ate. Loved the steak, asian and jamaican resaurant. if you go early not really a wait, if your later it may be a bit. I cant understand how anyone could complain about the food!
Entertainment crew were fun- my hubby played tons of valleyball and we did the night shows. Some better the others, but always fun. The kids had a mini show befor the main one and those were wonderful. ( gave us a chance to have a drink and watch)
The mini kids club was good. My daughter really liked it. Spice and buttercup were her favorites. Bubbles had a good variety of activites for the kids posted daily. Smurf was always around and we enjoyed her too! Do not hesitate to take your kids, they did a good job - a little more laid back then the mexican resorts we have been to, but very good overall!
Beach by the pool was not as bad as people said. brought water shoes but didnt use the. not even my 5 year old - alittle pebbly and a few rocks, but after you got out a few feet it was fine, and you could look down and see the rosk. lots of snorkeling. Sunset cove was great nice size, soft sand activites, and also home to the jerk hut :) not a long wait- again not sure what people are talking about!
pool was amazing. my daughter stayed in the shallow end for the most part since whe was just 5. stairs into the deeper end where the pool bar is. never a problem finding a chair in the vacinity. they were there cleaning all thetime!
bars were all good, drinks plentiful, we just used the cups on resort and didnt have a problem. loved the infinity bar top. beautiful that is were the managment party was, we didntalk to us, but we danced and had fun - also food was there. Sports bar had pool tables, ping pong and foosball.
small casino with a few slots - didnt get to disco but heard it was fun. Gift shop had a plenty of things you might need.
The resort is bigger and beautiful. would go back again.
