“Still very enjoyable, but...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2013

Revisited the GPLH from 1st - 11th Feb. Stayed in Villa 32 excellent location for us quiet with lovely ocean view and fantastic sunsets.

Only went to the evening buffet once, as it was the same food as lunchtime. The Al a carte restaurants were mostly good, Italian not so, but always a huge queue at the Steak Bubbas, waiting well over an hour due to reservations from better 'bands'.

Music upstairs was good with steel bands, the Main shows were OK but very samey every night.

We tried the main pool several times, but the noise level was too loud, after a few minutes you had a headache... but the staff were having a great time. The daytime entertainment could have been more varied and more pleasurable.

The sports bar, with ten TV's all on different channels, was again very noisy. The food here basic.
We are table tennis players and it was too hot in there for this sport, it needed to be near the tennis
courts. There was an archery range here but no targets. In the sports bar there were three pool tables, but only two ques that had an end on, so lots of people wanting to play, but let down by rubbish equipment.

The gym and spa were still good, everything working. But coming back in the dark everynight, we were triping up over the broken paving and uneven ground, where it had sunk and not been repaired.

The beaches are great, one peaceful and windy, ideal for us. Another in a small pretty cove, next to the adults pool and bar and a sporty beach with windsurfers, sailing, canoes & pedaloes. Next to Jerk hut & beach cafe for lunch. Varied menu and very enjoyable. The beaches are rocky with stingrays,
so shoes needed. Snorkling, very basic, nothing much to see.

Two good locations for weddings, one on the beach with turquoise sea, excellent for photographs.
The better one was on the cliff, one wedding had a steel band playing, it was lovely. The staff were very well organised and all the couples who got married looked very happy.

This Hotel opened in 2008 and we were really enjoyed our first visit. BUT the Fiesta Hotel group need to invest some money in replacing furniture and equipment as its looking worn out and past its best.

But on the whole, we would highly recommend this hotel.

than this ALL INCLUSIVE resort. My husband and I were on a cruise and booked this as our first excursions. It is BEAUTIFUL! The grounds are incredibly clean. They provided us with towels, and a place to change and shower when we were done at the end of the day before returning to the ship.
The smell of the oceans water mixing with all of the tropical flowers and blowing through the breeze way must be what heaven smells like. The staff was so kind, from bartenders to the wait staff at the buffet.( I ate the best mango of my life)
There were places to shop, places to swim in the ocean or pool, places to dance... It was the perfect start to our vacation. The staff of GPLH were very professional with getting you to & from the buses in an organized manner. I would do it all over again in a heart beat!

I have to admit, I had a lot of preconcieved ideas about Jamaica. This property totally blew them all away. If I could describe the resort with one word it would be Paradise! The views are incredible.

Internet hook up - the charge is $20/day or $70/week. There was free wifi at the lobby, but hook up was very slow if you could get on. My suggestion - if you really need to be connected, pay the $70, but there won't be any guarantee that this connection will be faster.

I had read everywhere that the people of Jamaica were extremely aggressive with requesting tips. We did not find that at this resort. Everyone was accommodating and friendly. There wasn't even a feeling of being hustled at the stalls selling trinkets on location. There are no vendors walking the beach trying to sell you things. Even the cabbies were respectful. There may be lots of hustling for tips in other locations, but not in this one.

We had the honeymoon suite - room 3021. It was the perfect location. Beach/ocean front, behind us was the adult pool and behind that was a beach perfect for snorkeling. A short 3 minute walk to the main resort area for meals. If there would be a problem with any walking, there are carts to transport you to your destination on the resort. The sand is coarse, like in Hawaii and there are not endless beaches like in Mexico, but small, private ones all over the resort, with some being bigger than others.

Our room was incredibly spacious with a jacuzzi tub, his and hers vanities, and out door shower. This shower is not for when you come back from the beach, it is only accessable from the room. Our bed was king size, and a bit hard. The pillows were a bit hard as well, but there is a pillow menu you can order something to your liking for a nominal fee of $3. Not sure if it is per day or week. The decorator pillows worked just fine. Room key is used to activate the power and air conditioner. Once you open any of the patio doors (we had 2), it turns it off until the door is closed. We didn't find the noise a problem being behind the bar, but the bar closed at midnight.

We had read that there was an ATM on site, which we didn't find, not that we were looking that hard either.

The buffets were large. The food was average. The evening buffet would have theme nights. The a la carte restaurants were very busy and gave the 2 hour dining experience. Portions were small at these, so there isn't a problem with ording what you like. Service is efficient and pleasant.

Every evening there was a new show to watch. You could see the performers practicing during the day for that evening show.

To sum it all up - relaxing, beautiful people and spectacular views. The only thing I would like to change would be the location. It is 45 minutes from/to either Montego Bay or Negril.

Room Tip: Villas #30 are a very good location. Fairly quiet, great views, but it is also where the weddings ta...

My husband and I stayed at GPLH alongside our good friends from 23rd Jan to 7th Feb 2013.
I have to admit that Jamaica was never on my 'places to go' list however it is most certainly now on my 'places to revisit' list, as is The Grand Palladium Lady Hamilton.

Arrival at GPLH could not have been quicker, easier or friendlier - we were met with welcome refreshments and as we had printed off and filled in our room forms before leaving the UK we were fitted with our AI bands and shuttled off to our rooms quicker than pretty much any other hotel we've stayed at.
The rooms are very comfortable, very clean and we were very pleased that we had the sea views and adjacent rooms that we had requested before leaving the UK. We've been on other holidays with the same friends where we've been situated at different ends of the complex so this was a welcome relief.
We stayed in rooms 2921 & 2922 in Villa 29 - gorgeous sea/beach views and very close to the adult only pool. Both rooms were equipped with TV, Tea/coffee facilities, Ipod station, iron & board, minibar (stocked daily), safe, balcony and a bathroom with a large jacuzzi bath, large shower, hairdryer and strangely, a bottle opener.
The rooms were cleaned daily by Annette and she did a fabulous job.

The hotel itself is huge as are the grounds but there are covered walkways if needed for those welcome showers and/or you can always get a lift on the buggies if walking is an issue for you. The guys that drive the buggies are very friendly and always willing to help get you where you want to go.
The grounds are immaculate and the gardeners do an amazing job. If there's anything you want to know about their style or method of gardening then ask them, they are very informative and appreciate the interest.

The food is plentiful and pretty much very tasty and the buffets have themed nights each evening.
We only tried 2 of the many a la carte restaurants:- Bubba J's where we had a delicious Tbone steak and the Indian.
There were people moaning about the queues for some of the restaurants but it's so easy to just chill out with a drink until your table is ready that it really isn't worth causing aggravation. We had to wait about 1 hour for our table but the time flew by and didn't ruin the night in any way for us.
The staff in the Indian were some of the friendliest we came across. They always seemed chirpy and happy and eager to help and the whole meal was extremely good - even musical tables mid meal due to a storm did nothing to dampen the spirit.
The only other restaurant we ate at was the Poseidon at the beach. It made a welcome change to order from a menu at lunch time rather than a buffet and the food was very tasty.

The entertainment at GPLH was not for me - unfortunately!
I found the day time entertainment mind numbingly bad as I had no interest in watching or listening to beer drinking competitions round the main pool in midday heat at a family hotel, nor did I appreciate the dj's persistent 'whaaaaa, whaaaaaa, whaaaaa' down the microphone during pretty much every song.
The main pool is an amazing pool to see however we never returned to it after the first day of being subjected to the dj. Instead we spent our time at the adult only pool which for the majority of the time was a peaceful place.
The evening entertainment was again not my thing because I don't find it enjoyable or relaxing to have to shout to be heard. There was plenty of nightly live bands though and I'm quite gutted to have missed the steel drums.

The beaches were not what I expected for the Caribbean but there's a few of them so if you don't like the first one you try you're bound to like one of the others - sea shoes are a must though.
The non motorised watersports are free so you should definitely give them a try!

We found the staff at GPLH to be extremely helpful and polite throughout our stay. I had read the negative reviews about staff before we went but we didn't experience any rudeness - not from staff anyway!

All in all this was the best getaway we have had in many many years. I would happily return to the Grand Palladium Lady Hamilton and indeed hope to do so in the future.

Room Tip: 2921/2922 @ Villa 29 are close to the small cove and near to the adult only pool - away from the noi...

this part has nothing to do with the resort. apple tours are good for some things but it would be worth your time to check out jammin jamaica tours and ask for Kevin. great driver guide and very nice person.

We loved everything about this resort, from the staff to the food. We have travelled to many all inclusives in Mexico and this was our first time to Jamaica and we will definitely be back. From the restaurants to the buffets, it was incredible. My husband loved the pasta bar at the buffet at lunch or dinner. On Sunday, the buffet had Roast Turkey... it was so awesome!
The rooms are well equipped and comfortable. We had some minor issues in our room and Myrtle was the cleaner supervisor of our building, Number 27 and was prompt in having the issues dealt with quickly. Our cleaner, Sharon was excellent everyday!
The Infinity Bar was incredible, as were the staff. It was disappointing that at 11pm they served drinks in plastic and if you were to leave the bar, you needed to pour your drink into plastic, as they don't want the glasses in other areas of the hotel.
We were in Building 27, which was close to all amenities, but honestly, we would not have minded being in the furthest building. As we see it, what do you have to be in a hurry to get anywhere... take your time and enjoy the walk... someone is preparing your meal and making your bed!!

Anyhow.. it was fantastic all around. Enjoy!

Room was great -- Food was great -- People were great -- The best part of this resort was Sunset beach (great location and views) and the Jerk Hut. If you want an amazing drink and good quality booze you can find it at Miss Lou's. I can't wait to go back.
