We were relieved to find the town of Valognes on our way to Cherbourg as other towns and villages along the way (on a Tuesday) were dead and offered little sustenance to travellers midday. We had to wait for a few minutes for a table as it was choc a bloc with a great hubbub as staff raced hither and dither delivering dishes. We opted for a menu c.€15 and a pichet of wine and enjoyed a really nice three course meal. My starter was crevettes rosé mayonnaise, followed by turkey in a forestiere sauce and then a little plate of mini desserts. It was all tasty, and very good value.
Staff were efficient and service was prompt. Our last lunchtime meal in France before the ferry port was therefore memorable. Thank goodness for La Galatiere and Valognes!
