“Absent wait staff”
Reviewed August 10, 2013 via mobile

The WORST service I have ever encountered at a restaurant. Sat on the restaurant side patio last weekend. The server must have been over sampling the local herb, as he had NO clue what he was doing. Many patrons came in and subsequently left after being ignored for 20-30 minutes without so much as a menu being presented. Some went to the pub side, where servers seemed more plentiful and efficient. Food was just ok, nothing special. Portions were generous. Won't be back.

“Great view - mediocre service”
Reviewed August 6, 2013

We ate at this Resturant on a Tuesday evening. The view overlooking the lake is great and dining on the patio on a warm evening is great. However, the adjoining patio ( for bar customers) is a smoking area and the smoke wafts into the dining area. Smoking on a patio seems quite backward for a BC Resturant.

The service was slow and the wait staff seemed to have no idea about how to treat customers. Orders were mixed up and very slow in arriving. Water was never refreshed. When the meal did arrive the food was good but the portions were fairly small.

There were four couples on the patio when we were there - one couple left without eating because the food took too long. The others left after having words with management.

While the food is OK - be prepared to pay full price for smallish portions and be prepared to wait.

“Fun, Food, Location”
Reviewed August 6, 2013

Some places just make you feel happy to be there, for us this was one of them. From the 60's classics on the juke box, the view out over the lake, the eclectic mix of people and the cold beer. It just combined to hit the spot.
Now for the food. Generous portions, oysters and garlic prawns full of flavour, fries and onion rings light but filling, we ate at 4pm and didn't need to eat again until breakfast.

“ANOTHER PARADISE DINING SETTING ON A LAKEFRONT”
Reviewed July 30, 2013

The Kaslo Hotel & Brew Pub is on Main Street, & on the South Shore of a beautiful Lake.& beside a small park where outdoor markets sell everything from fresh fruits, food, clothing, & other gems.
This hotel was once the home for over 200 Japanese Canadians imprisoned there during the 2nd World War. It was the largest of accomodations in one building in the Ghost Towns. Part of it burned back in the 1900's, but most recently, new owners restored it back to it's original elegance when it was new (similar to the famous railway hotels across Canada, tho much smaller)...It has 8 rooms & 4 Condo's, so not good for large groups, but great for families or couples, or businessmen. It is a 7 minute walk away from an original "Ferry", which was used to transport passengers, animals, consumer goods, etc..The view from the ELEGANT restaurant is phenominal, & you have indoor dining as well as large outdoor patio dining on the lakeshore.
The restaurant has great reasonably priced food & beverages, however, the service is very slow due perhaps to a shortage of staff , both in the kitchen & dining area. There is a large fireplace in the large dining room area, & the entire wall is glass facing the lake & mountains. I don't think that the new restaurant owner is aware of the fact that his lack of managerial skills is truely the reason that his business features few customers even during peak dining hours. He needs to hire a restaurant professional to come in, hire & train new professional staff, including a chef & cooks, then have an "Open House Re-opening", well advertised, to breath new life into the property..

Thank you for your lovely review. Yes, we do have an unexpected shortage of staff this summer, and are addressing it as we speak. I apologize for the long wait for your food, we hope to have you in again!
