“Not so romantic, but good place for kids”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 20, 2006

This was our honeymoon trip. The resort is very family friendly, and the staff is amazing with kids of all ages. Even though it was our honeymoon, and the setting wasn't romantic per se, it was still fun to sit in the lounge-bar area and watch the kids' show each night. All-Inclusive is a must, the food is usually good, sometimes just okay, but since its buffett style you'll have a good chance to fill up on something tasty. I would highly recommend a 2nd floor room or higher. We had a 1st floor "oceanview" room, and it would have been nice to sleep with the curtains open and watch the sunrise, or sunset. But the 1st floor lacked privacy, as well as the height neccessary to see over the pool to get the full "oceanview". The weather was rotten. 9 out of the 10 days it was raining, not continuously, but enough to put a damper on some of the activities we had wanted to do. Not sure if this was a seasonal thing. The staff is amazingly friendly. For U.S. people unaware, bring a power adapter that can be used in Australian power sockets. We learned the hard way, and after my camera ran out of power, we had to buy a disposable camera from the resort that had no flash and costed about 18 US dollars. So, if looking for a romantic getaway, maybe look elsewhere, unless paradise on a budget sounds romantic enough. If travelling with children and looking for a get away, though 10 hour flight from LA may be excrutiating with kids, I would recommend this place.

  • Liked — Having a porch to be able to sit on outside.
  • Disliked — Lack of privacy on first floor, would've nice to have had a U.S. power socket in the room
  • Tips/Secrets — Get a room above the first floor.

Four of us stayed at the Naviti to celebrate my husbands 60th birthday. We had a wonderful time and will go again soon. We stayed in the old wing, and although a little dated were well maintained.
I do agree with some other reviews from around the same time re the noise at night but this I think was due to a conference and some noisy young tourists.
Overall, the package was excellent, and suitable for all ages. It was great not to have a larger hotel bill when checking out, as most is covered at this resort.
If we were going again without our son, we would request either the Suva wing or the new wing as we feel it would be a little quieter.

  • Liked — It was a great package
  • Disliked — None
  • Tips/Secrets — Make sure you take the all inclusive package

we have just returned for the beautiful naviti where we had our wedding. There were 19 of us all together and we all went on the all inclusive package this is truly the only way to go,, everyone had a ball ,, Our wedding was perfect all we had to do was let Nunia ( the wedding co-ordinator) know what we wanted and she took care of the rest,, the bouquet was a beautiful arrangement fo freshe orchids for a bargain price of 50 fiji dollars...i would thouroughly recommend getting married here to anyone,, we had the choir and the fijian warriors came up to my room and escorted me down to the wedding and treated me like a queen..If you are thinking about a wedding here, do it.
Now my 8 year old son went missing for the 7 days we were here as the amount of activities they have and the staff in the kids club are absolutely amazing,, the fijians love kids and treat them so wonderfully, we only saw him at meal times ,,He has made some very special friends there,
The meals do get a bit repetive so if you are concerned about that sort of thing then this is not the place for you.. it didnt worry us at all though,, still good value,,My only word of advice would be the Joy Spa is a rip off and the Indian lady who works in there isnt very nice or polite ,, i woulnt bother wasting my money in there if you want a massage go down the village and go to the second hut , see maria and alena they will give u an hour massage for $30 and they also do washing for $15 a huge bag full,, they even ironed our socks.I would recomend this place to families and anyone who wants to have a good fun busy time , if you are after a quiet holiday then go up the road to the warwick, we personally didnt like the warwick as it was very upmarket and had no atmosphere..Worst thing about the Naviti was leaving and saying goodbye to the most wonderful people in the world, until we meet again nasai bula,,

TICKS All inclusive deal is fantastic value, wonderful friendly staff, great food, restaurants, bars, pools great, all very clean, plenty of deck chairs great free activities, beautiful layout.
CROSSES Old section has very noisy corridors with timber steps, lack of security late at night when people are yelling and screaming and banging on doors after 2am. Long way from the airport (90mins) especially if your bus breaks down on the way back to the airport at 5.30am and you all need to hitchhike.
Recommend staying in Nadi the last night. But all in all worth the trip and will definitely be going back!!!

  • Liked — Cleanliness, friendly staff, great restaurants, great bars, great location and pools
  • Disliked — Noisy corridors late at night in old section ,forget a good nights sleep
  • Tips/Secrets — Ask for a room in the new section ,forget getting up at 4am on your last day stay in Nadi

The family just had a true holiday in Fiji. We arrived in Nadi on 11 July and returned to AUS on 18 July. We had 5 days at the Naviti, and we all enjoyed it ,mum, dad + 3K (18,14,13). We had two room adjoining and also the 'all inclusive' package. The rooms we wer in were the new ones and they were very roomy and homely. The bathrooms were HUGE and the walkthrough Wardrobe was excellent. The meals are buffett, but there is plenty of variety and all taste can be met. If you dont want to eat in the Resturant for lunch, then you have snacks/meals by the pool, which are included. All local beer, wine spirits are also included. I must say that there was not mant times I did not have a drink of sorts, and the staff are very welcoming and helpful. We went to the Warwick and it was nice day , but I think the Warwick is more suited to couples - no kids, but go there any way just for the visit and snorkelling.
We also used Ma's whichis the blue house accross the road from the Naviti for some washing (15.00 fj per bag) and it was washed, dried, and ironed the same day - even the socks and undies to the delight of the kids.
We also went to the villiage stalls next door to the Naviti and the girls all had their nails done. Many other visitors told us of the massages as well which are pretty good.
We had a nightin Nadi on the way in and the way out and I would recommend tjhis if you have kids, and also have the transfers arranged before you go (it cost us $270.00 for all transfers for 5 people airport-hotel-naviti - hotel-airport) so it was good value.
Many families took part in the scheduled activities including volleyball, footbal, touch footy, archery etc.
We went on the boat ride and it was also fun. I did the moring BAY fishing (no cost). I also did the intro to Scuba in the pool (no cost) and then a 1 hour introduction dive ($120 fj) out in the bay/reef area with Douglas.
If you do go to the Naviti be sure to say Hi to Noah and Harry (activities) Colin and Les (boat).
The Fiji people are RUGBY Mad so if youhave any Brumbies/Warathas gear wear it. It opens doors and you can trade before you go home. Harry has my BRUMBIES hat.
All in all this was the most relaxing, fun time my family has spent together. We did not want to come home, and all wish we were back there again, and we willbe back in 2008.
Some issues:
we were there in JULY and it was pretty warm, so I would expect that summer is very hot.
We had the all inclusive package but still had excursions/cocktails booked to the room extra cost was $ 200.00 FJ for five people for five days most was the excursions.
We also had to pay a tiny bit extra 'cause our 'kids 14/13' did not eat ay KIDS time but with us.

  • Liked — Spacious room/Bathroom - Bath and Shower - Pleasant outlook - adjoing rooms(family)
  • Disliked — Unable to lock/unlock door to pool from outside. No Replay of AUSTRALIAN RUGBY (i taped it at home anyway)
  • Tips/Secrets — With kids = Naviti + all inclusive deal No KIds = Warwick + all inclusive deal

It is now three weeks since our return from the Naviti, and time to start thinking about when to go back.
This 8 night stay was our third Naviti holiday, and hopefully not our last. Travelling as a family of 4, with another family of 4, with children aged from 7-12, this has been the perfect holiday destination.
There were always choices to be made, but never difficult ones - which pool to swim in, which bar to enjoy refreshments at, which restaurant to eat at, what to eat for breakfast/lunch dinner, whether to windsurf, kayak, swim or just relax.
The staff were mostly friendly and helpful, and any issues we had during our stay were dealt with in time!
This time around we decided to eat mostly in the Talei and Bamboo Terrace restaurants, either paying the $10 per child surcharge, or feeding them first and sending them to kids club. This decision was mostly due to the quieter nature of these venues - a good break from the sometimes hustle and bustle of the Wasuwasu and Nukunuku buffet style restaurants. At the Bamboo Terrace, there was an 'all inclusive ' menu for no extra charge, or the special menu which was 20% off for 'all inclusive' guests. We had the lobster from this menu which ended up being $40 fj for a whole lobster. This menu also incuded marinated jellyfish, which we tried for the sake of it. We enjoyed the more focussed table service at these venues. Book ahaed though.
The new pool is great, and made the old pool look tired, however the result was that the old pool was a quiet place to be, where our children were often the only ones swimming or playing on a large floating hoop. We snorkelled around the corner from the resort and found plenty of tropical life, however there is a fair bit of coral bleaching here.
The entertainment was again great, with cultural shows on a few nights, Fijian and Polynesian, the highlight one night being a 9y/o fire twirler - fantastic. Fiji's own version of the BeeGee's is still the resident evening band, and always kept us tuned in. During the day there were always roaming musicians playing and singing Fijian tunes near the main pool, the foyer, or in the restaurants. One group has a CD which you can buy for $20fj.

The kids enjoyed Rugg Rats club again and got on especially well with Joe. There was watermelon cracking, icecream eating comps, egg throwing, crab racing, fish feeding, donkey rides etc.
The adults enjoyed a round of golf on one day, a short but picturesque 9 hole course, while we all went on the trip to Sigatoka on the saturday morning. This gives you a true sense of the culture, the ethnic divisions, and the relative poverty of the Fijian people. The shopping isn't amazing, however the girls were very happy about finding some cheap Birkenstocks.

Take advantage of the Naviti Day Spa treatments, although not all that cheap, they are enjoyable. The girls had manicures and pedicures. Possibly steer clear of the Bobo massage though, my mate and I had one and decided Bobo must be Fijian for 'elbow', as although mostly good, sometimes the deep tissue bit got a bit deep!
We got our hair braided at the house opposite the entrance gate, my daughter's cost $50 for 87 braids in her long hair - they do a good tight job. They also do braids, massage and souvenirs in the shop in the village directly next to the resort - this may be worth a try for the massage.
The water craft have been recently updated with about six fat new sailboards - good for beginners, and plenty of kayaks. We spent lenty of time on these.
Just a couple of small frustrations during our stay - the first was that the large elevated spa was out of order for the duation of our stay (the water was clean but heater not working), the second was that a small playground was constructed in front of our eyes on one of our first days, then left with 'caution ' tape around it until we were gone.
Overall, just a true experience of relaxation - no hidden expenses, and great climate.

We can't get enough of this wonderful resort. We took our own son plus his friend to Naviti instead of letting them off to schoolies on the gold coast. They had a great time, we had a great time - there was enough space to give the boys a bit of freedom to do their own thing, as well as give us the space to have a relaxing holiday together. In fact, we found the rooms, service, food and the friendliness so impressive that we went in 2003 and are off to Naviti again in August. It can't come quickly enough for me. The staff are so accommodating and friendly - nothing is a bother to anyone, they are just so helpful. Each visit we found the food to be great - plenty of variety with all tastes catered for - including heaps of 'healthy' choices(who really cares when you're on holidays anyway). There is always something to do at Naviti...even in the evenings. On a previous stay at Denarau, evenings were boring - no entertainment. This is never the case at Naviti - there is something happening every night of the week. We cannot find a single negative thing to say about the Naviti, and I am looking forward to our return, to see the changes that have been made recently. Congratulations Naviti - the perfect resort for anyone wanting a relaxing holiday where all you need to think about is being spoilt. Your hardest decision each day will be - which swimsuit will I wear today?

  • Liked — access to the wardrobe through the bathroom...great idea
  • Disliked — no tv..but there is now, so thats ok
  • Tips/Secrets — don't take too many clothes - it is casual all the way here which is great - swimsuits, a few sarongs and maybe a t-shirt is all you need.
