Had an impromptu visit here one hot Sunday afternoon with my husband. It didn't disappoint!! Ten minute walk up to the castle from the beach. Arrived to find it is free to enter the castle grounds. Great ruins with most of the outer walls intact. The views are breathtaking. You can see for miles over the beach below. It's a beautiful spot and well worth a visit. Great place to take a picnic and enjoy the surroundings.

A short walk up a very steady incline takes you to his well preserved castle.
A lot of the building remains & youngsters will find it a very interesting place to explore.
The views from the top are just wonderful on all sides.
On the way down be sure to take the field side path to the beach & enjoy a freshly prepared portion of fish & chips from Florries. As good as always. Now serving in their 17th year!

Do not visit the beautiful town without taking time to walk up to this extraordinary beauty. The view is out of this world and the remains of this castle are truly magical.

ruins have always given a challenge and quest to learn more. The site sits in settlement crossing which you reach the castle. The castle gives you spectacular views of the sea, reminds of its strategic location. the interpretation is not overpowering, this is the biggest strength of the site that it gives you the scope to explore and investigate spaces. Extremely romantic is showers a worth a visit, if looking for loosing oneself in nature as this site is a unique example of building overpowered by nature and vice versa, just depends where u are located on site
