Lost and Found is one of the best and most memorable hostel experiences I have ever had, and definitely the high point of our stay in Panama.

This hostel has so much going for it. Comfortable rooms. A functional kitchen and the option to purchase groceries or delicious prepared meals. A relaxed atmosphere with great guests. Free coffee. A huge selection of movies (300+). A pet kinkaju!! The location is truly unique and breathtaking - nestled in the cloud forest, you have unbelievable views of the mist rolling over the surrounding mountains each day. The staff is definitely one of the high points, and they're doing everything right in terms of operating a hostel. They are friendly and engaging and will go out of their way not just to make you feel at home, but to make your trip whatever you want it to be. From organizing local tours, to starting an impromptu foosball tournament, to sharing a laugh in the back of their pickup truck, Andrew and Patrick really made us feel welcome. They also frequently discussed with us their ideas to enrich the local community, including the possibility of starting a local school/tutoring program.

I highly recommend this hostel, and taking advantage of all it has to offer - especially the tours (the horseback trip and the organic coffee tour are really special experiences and give an excellent flavor of local Panama, figuratively and literally ) Hike to the nearby river, sip coffee by the lookout, play with Rocky the kinkaju!

I cannot say enough good things about this hostel, my only regret is that it's taken me almost a month to say them (sorry Andrew and Patrick!) Thank you for everything.

Had a wonderful stay here...the staff were really accomodating, and the scenery was picturesque. Want to complain about the weather, but its a cloudforest, so I wont...and the rainbows every morning, made the incoming rain barable.
Had a unique experience, saw a tarantula on the way to take a picture of a rainbow that was arching over the view of the volcano...hmm...reminder where I am...hee hee. Besides that incident, wildlife was friendly...saw lots of monkeys and a sloth was actually hanging on the railing on the HARD hike up. When are u guys gonna put in a cable car...just joking, I think they have heard that one a few times. Anyways, a great place to cool off and drink organic home grown coffee while watching great wildlife.
If people want to experience a cloudforest and want to see a hostel that gives back, dont miss this!

Randall

First, I should preface this with a note that just prior to our stay the area experienced a horrible storm, and the weather remained lousy the whole time we we were there. Patrick and Andrew were kind enough to put us up in a nearby house due to the lack of power and water at the lodge for the first couple of days. They experienced a lot of damage and had just re-opened for us. The lodge is located in the Fortuna reserve, a cloud forest habitat about 45 minutes from David. It's easy to get to by car or bus, though if you're driving you should make arrangements ahead of time to park your car at the house. Be prepared for a rigorous hike to the lodge itself, and for cool, wet weather. Once there, though, Andrew and his wife will take great care of you. I highly recommend the lodge for hikers, backpackers, herpers, birders, and other nature-folk. Be aware this is not a luxury stay - it's a hostel located in the middle of a forest. But if you're OK with that, I highly recommend the Lost and Found Lodge for a couple of days. There's nothing else like it in Panama.

Wow, really special place here folks... Feels like you are in a cloud most of the time, but in the mornings, what views!! We could see all the way to Costa Rica! Birders will find this delightful, but they must be physically fit enough to do the hike up to the lodge, since it is the only way to get in. Although, going into the jungle makes it even more exciting. Great hosts, superb wildlife, crazy insects, and cool hikes and rivers. Oh, yeah, ask them to take you to the secret waterfall, it is worth the effort!
