Well we have just returned from 2 fantastic weeks in Thailand, with one of them being spent in this beautiful resort. Everything was great, but it was interesting to see how there are always moaners despite the serene surroundings and great weather!
It is true that the resort is about 40 mins out of the city via a shuttle bus, but I thought that was the point of getting away to relax? We travelled into the city by way of the hotel shuttle which at present runs a free service twice a day, a 10am drop off and a 3pm pickup. You can book whatever time you want to be dropped off and picked up, but this will cost you 150bht per person per way.
For a hotel the food although pricey by Thai standards was much cheaper than many of the hotels we had previously stayed in and it was really tasty. En fin, we would suggest 4 days in the city (to do some of the tours and markets) and 2 or 3 days just to stay based in the resort and do nothing but enjoy the serene surroundings, oh well, until next year...............................................
Pros:- Nov-Feb is nice time coz' the surrounding landscape and garden is absolutely charming. Basic rooms, also charming house suites. Food is so, so. Courteous staff. Cons:-Its really far from the city - about 40mins to the city centre & 30mins to the airport. Getting out and back is really difficult. Also, unless u take the hotel's tours, other tour agencies coming in to pick u, will charge extra coz' of the distance. Coz' it's secluded, the hotel's only restuarant is the only source for food.
