“Not worth the price”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 5, 2012

We were only here for one night and were not pleased at all for the money we were paying. We were locked out of our room twice and although the staff responded rather quickly it took them awhile to let us into the room. It was a much more impersonal place to stay in comparison with the Northwest Guesthouse down the road where we have stayed in the past. The breakfast only had white bread toast and eggs with some fruit, juice and milk available. The room was dusty and only had a standing shower - not what you expect for the price. Pros: It was not crowded while we were there and there was ample parking space. It is within walking distance to the excellent Sawadee Restaurant - yummy pizza and Thai food with a laid back atmosphere. The balcony also had a nice view overlooking the river. Would not stay here again - there are much better places in Mae Sariang for far less the cost.

we stayed at the Riverhouse Resort while our friends stayed at the Riverhouse Hotel which is only 30% of our price here. The rooms are ok but highly overpriced, no elevator and its crowded with groups so we fled the restaurant and the breakfast was so loud and noisy, not a good result for a house with this prices.

checking in at the front desk an experience because there are so many staff hanging around that you think that a family reunion is just being on the way. Location is excellent, within walking distance to restaurants in the vicinity. Try the Coriander in Redood restaurant next door - a GREAT place with some excellent food.
The hotel was almost exclusively used by Thai tourists, foreigners seemed to be few and far between in that hotel, which, however seems to be the best option you do have in that city.
The room clean, had a balcony direction river, which, due the many trees in front of the hotel, couldn't really be seen .
Those being noise-sensitive, use your ear-plugs, even our Thai guide that stayed in the hotel as well complained about the noise next morning; as has been said, the whole place seems to be a family place, with lots of Thais hanging around, living their life also in the halls, thus making the place quite some noisy piece of accomodation.
Breakfast was the simplest we saw on our culture-vulture trip, some people might call it awful. The 'American breakfast' they offer, a plate with cold sausages, eggs etc., an epicurean epic fail. They also offer Thai breakfast of some white soup like stuff I couldn't identify, well, I didn't try the stuff.
Language proficiency of the staff was worst in that hotel, there was hardly anyone that would be able to understand requests, except for the 'computer expert'.
For a night the place was ok, above all, because you don't have too many options, if any, in that place, and the management seems to be aware of that as well, so take it or leave it, but don't bother too much.
And what really pissed me off was the fact that they tell you Wifi works on the rooms, though they know, it doesn't, as guests have complained about that various times for months in reviews. And when telling them it doesn't work in the room, they'd come to your room, offering you to help fixing the problem, knowing, it can't be fixed, because it simply wouldn't work anyway. And then tell you the problem is going to be fixed on the next day ;-(
But it does work in the lobby, where the staff watch TV and enjoy themselves as well. That there's huge ants moving around on the table, and the chair I was sitting on while surfing the net, is another story......

This hotel is obviously a little old but still clean and comfortable enough for a stop over and it is very reasonably priced and well located and staff were friendly and helpful.

Mae Sariang is a lovely little town to call through and definitely worth a stop. The Coriander Restaurant/Cafe next to hotel is a very good find with excellent food, wine beer etc at great prices.

The sister hotel (Riverhouse Hotel) only a short walk down the same road looks like it might be a bit nicer and newer.

I stayed at this hotel recently. It was nice enough. The hotel staff were really friendly and helpful, the room was clean. American Breakfast was plain and simple.

Stayed here overnight in early April, 2010. Walk in rate was ok. Adjoining rooms on 2nd floor were clean, smallish and spartan. Brekkie was very ordinary. Conveniently located next door to very good Coriander on Redwook (over the top name) which has very adequate Thai food.

I only stayed here for 1 night. If I had to stay longer I would have been very down on it.
There is no wi-fi in the rooms and the only internet access is in the lobby where the staff all congregate to watch Thai soap operas every night (not great for personal skype calls).
The rooms are basic but have most for what you need. There is a balcony but it was covered in insects, leaves and other detritus.. A problem that is actually easily sorted.
The staff were a bit rubbish.. unfriendly and wouldnt speak as much english as they were actually capable of.
The breakfast was awful. A cold plate of eggs that they call 'American Breakfast'. The alternative is an Asian breakfast of rice porridge, rice, noodles and curry. I asked for a bottle of water with my food and the waitress looked at me like I was from mars and said, "No like amelican blefas?" before sending someone else over to find out what I wanted.
Sounds like there are better options in town...
