Stayed here for a couple of days recently and have to say how wonderful it was. The owners were very welcoming and lovely. The location was just perfect and the room had a cute charm which was very comfortable.

Being a B&B user over many years, this was the first time I was truly disappointed with the accommodation. The mattress was thin, uncomfortable and well past its use by date. The same can be said of the towels and bed linen. The bathroom was a tiny closet barely big enough to turn round in, the plumbing leaked whenever the sink taps were turned on, and the bin was half full of smelly rubbish presumably left by the previous guest. The proximity of the two bedrooms and bathrooms was such that if the guests in the other room used the bathroom during the night, we could hear very clearly everything they did in their bathroom from the turning on of the light to the turning off. Imagination can supply the rest. The place was a haven for cobwebs, and the attached picture shows a particularly questionable inhabitant of one of them. I could go on!!
Me and my partner went for a long weekend by the sea.
I really felt I had to recommend it as it was just stunning.
Wivenhoe is a small pretty riverside village it reminded me of a English version of Dawsons Creek.
There are lots of things to do,we ended up going on lots of beautiful walks everyday and spending the evenings in the local pub!
The accommodation itself was over and above what we expected for the price.
It was right by the river, and was actually a self contained cottage.
The room we stayed in had a small en-suite it was very luxurious with high beamed ceilings and a fireplace
It was lovely and warm, the room was clean and the beds where very comfortable.
Breakfast was served downstairs , in our own little dinning room.
I had a full english breakfast everyday, which was much more than I could eat!
And my partner had a continental.
The couple who ran it Sarah & Colin where really helpful, and went out of there way to make sure we had a lovely stay.
I would recommend this bed and breakfast if you are looking for a cheap weekend break in the country.
